2 people gave a name and he dismissed one of them, for the pretty solid reason that stevenson was an amatuer boxer and not that muscular at 20.

The big and clever club is actually just as boring to read as the people they criticize, and talks just as much ****, often just imagining criticisms that haven't been expressed to make themselves feel big and clever.

Do 20 year old louis ali ect have any chance? no, not really. What happens if tyson survives 3 rounds with stevenson? probably he goes on to dominate a man who hasn't trained for the distance.

    "Stevenson fought with small gloves".

Tyson was using 80z thumbless gloves.

    "Stevenson fought with no headgear"
A philosophy taught by cus d'amato and practiced by Tyson.

"Stevenson destroyed fighters on the world level"
Tyson was the undefeated undisputed world heavyweight champion with 9 title defendes (7kos) by age 23.

"Most his fights ended in three rounds"
Yeah because he only fought three rounds!

"Very little difference between amateur and pro in 1970s"
There's at least one fundamental difference that would be a huge factor , one being the length of the fight.

Can't you understand Stevenson never fought professionally to throw him in there with Tyson would be suicide. He was offered 5 million in the seventies to fight Ali in what would be his first pro fight and he turned that down.

Well, Patterson was pretty good at that age and they had the same trainer. I know that Patterson was a bit chinny, but that's really all I can come up with.

At 20 most of the candidates would have little or no professional experience. They would simply be younger/smaller versions of themselves at peak.
Holyfield has the best chance, even being lighter.
Lewis and Bowe have the size to frustrate Tyson, but Holyfield had the fearlessness and skills to be competitive at least. Winning is another matter entirely.

Yes,Tyson would win a hypothetical tournament of greats when they were all 20 years of age. He was very accomplished at that point.

I did answer your question. I said: "I'll give you your argument"
Perhaps no 20 year old HW could have beaten Tyson.
Any other debate on him is simply the subject of another thread.
But Mozart STILL blows his **** away! :D

You mention the Tillis fight. Was Tillis 20 years old in 1986? I don't believe he was which makes your point redundant.
Of course I've seen the Ramage fight. And yeah he looked impressive in that first glimpse of Louis we ever saw but he was fighting Lee Ramage not Mike Tyson. And I believe it was a double left hook.anyway I wouldn't have thought Louis would be ready for Tyson until after his rematch with Schmelling.
    Bugner....

winning the world heavyweight title at 20yrs is one of the most outstanding achievements in the history of all sports, and what benitez did was just crazy.
I don't agree that Stevenson would have a good chance, no boxer has ever gone into a title fight in his first few pro fights and been successful. especially against the destructive Tyson. anyone has a punchers chance but no way.
It really is a different game to the amateurs, the sheer attrition of a 12 round fight just doesn't translate onto films.
I cant see any 20year old in boxing history living with Tyson at that age.
I feel sorry for Tyson asthe decks are always stacked against rating a young champion fairly in a sport which praises longevity.

Mozart, by the way, couldn't hold a candle to benitez, or Tyson. yes he composed his first minuette at 5years but it was actually rubbish, and he wasn't swapping punches with grown men :)

In terms of skill, he had EVERYTHING. There's wasn't a HW before or after like him. He was the ultimate HW.
