Ward was an absolute massive SMW though. And Golovkin an average sized MW. People dont realize how big Ward actually was.

He fought at 178 in the Olympics and that was when he was still early 20s. He was was bigger than Kessler. Kessler was really small for 168. Ward was way bigger than Froch. Actually Froch had to struggle go keep weight on. And Froch could have made 160 for most of his career, Froch is actually really skinny.

And when he moved up to 175 he didnt look outsized at all. He didn't look small compared to Barrera. He had trouble with Kovalevs power and you wouldnt find that kind of power at 168. But he manhandled Kovalev in the clinch and inside. He was stronger and took a way better punch.

Plus his dad was a Heavyweight. It was in his genes.

Golovkin could have moved up, but he probably would have been tossed around inside. Ward was significantly bigger.

Yes he would have been fine with. As long they had some kind of agreement that GGG could fight 1 or 2 fights at 168 then they fight.

    Ward :pipi

    ^Your opinion.

    ^Your opinion.

... and ducked him. :deal: Big bad Ward was scared stiff of lil' Gennady Golovkin and decided it was safer not to meet him at the weight HE had demanded

I'm not so sure. He was looking at moving up and saying "I can wait 2 fights for you to be ready" all the while knowing Golovkin could lose leaving him having wasted a year/18 months of his prime years seems a bit of a stretch for me.

Ward was a light puncher though and GGG was seen as an unbeatable machine who was the hardest puncher in boxing history atleast that's what I was led to believe by his overzealous fans. With that said JCC Jr is bigger than Ward and GGG wanted to fight him. Froch wasn't little either and neither was Kessler. Fighters like Dirrell and Uzcategui are big 168 pound fighters not Ward.

Golovkin wasted his prime years knocking over cans to secure mandatory status with Canelo. But Canelo cowardly ducked him and waited for Golovkin to get old.

But at the end of the day he was still able to secure 2 massive paydays.

I'll tell you what's trash your pathetic attempt to refute my points.
Ward was a top 3 P4P fighter at that time fact
    Ward's resume > GGG's fact
You picked Kovalev to KO Ward fact
    You're bitter fact
GGG wanted to fight Ward at 164 but was willing to fight Froch and JCC Jr at 168 fact

Bow out now and admit defeat.:wizard:

Whilst getting shafted by Oscar's team of judges. 2018 was very nearly the year that broke me as a boxing fan. I'm so sick of seeing the corrupt verdicts being predictably rendered in favour of certain fighters.

In reply to the OP - Usyk

You cannot knock his record fighting abroad in 2018.

Thats a myth created by haters who didn't want to acknowledge that Ward was a smaller guy moving up when he fought Kovalev. Its a lie motivated by bitterness that Ward moved up and took risks while Golovkin didn't.
I watched Wards career from the start and nobody ever said he was a massive sized SMW. He was average sized for the weight and Froch was bigger than him , not smaller.
Ward has almost the same dimensions as Danny Jacobs. He isn't a big guy. Bringing up his days as an amateur shows that ydksab as there is no SMW division in the amateurs as there is no day before weigh-ins. He weighed in and fought on the same day.
Ward only went to LHW in the Olympics so he wouldn't end up boxing his team mate Andre Dirrel. He had to overeat according to Hunter to fight at that weight class which begins at 165 pounds.

When most predicted Kovalev to end Wards prime and beat him half to death , it wasn't because he was so much more skilled than him , its because he was so much bigger and more powerful. Kovalevs size , range and power was Wards major concern and everybody knew it.
When Ward won the fights , he suddenly turned into a natural LHW who was always the biggest SMW the division had ever seen:nut:
Ward was an average sized SMW as GGG was an average sized MW.

You can bring up his aspirations at HW if you want , but anybody can move to HW. Ward gets destroyed at HW and he knows it.

^Based on delusion. Froch has an inch in height on Ward and 3 inches in reach.

He was clearly the bigger man when they shared a ring. Not by much , but he was still bigger.

Yeah journeymen don't get enough credit for the size of their plums. Martin fought a who's who of the HW division and having all those names on your CV regardless if you win, lose or draw should automatically book you a seat in the Halls of Valhalla. There's plenty more journeymen out there with similar CVs that rarely ever get a mention as well.
