Yes but fire fighters fight fire. Now we are all confused.

    30 years though

i don't think there's as many as people are portraying. only from 82, it's a very fair question, especially since some of the fighters people are naming well past prime by then

    This is a good point.

Cotto and Clottey are great B+ examples. Solid champions, but with major flaws. Clottey was always going to get swamped by an A level fighter with activity. Margarito, even, pulled that trick.

Cotto was pulled down to his lowest weight in years, and when the opponent gets truly fast, his defense melts.

Pacquiao of the last few years has yet to look like all that against an elite foe, so I give many a good chance of taking him in a variety of types of fights.

His performance against Ricky Hatton was a revelation, but I can't say I've been set on fire since.

Marquez has arguably beat him twice in fights with plenty of exchanges and contacts. He's a great shout.

Mosley, Delahoya, Duran, Pryor at 135-140, Hearns, Trinidad, Leonard at 147 and Morales, Hamed at 126 all had a great chance to stand with him and win out.

In fact, JMM's success against Pac seems to come primarily from exchanges. When they stand at a distance and jab at each other, he rarely gets much done. It's when Pac would lunge in to initiate something that Marquez managed his best work.

In a straight battle of speed, power, and durability - two guys just wailing at each other until one drops - I can't think of many in the past 30 years at 135 or 140 (the weights Popkins specified for this thread. Welterweights need not be mentioned) that would outdo Manny. He's abundantly gifted in such aspects.

Guys like ramirez and Jose Luis Castillo are good picks.

Not great talents but very tough and solid offensively + a clear superiority in strength and infighting. These could be gruelling fights for a smaller quicker offence orientated guy who has a good but not excellent punch at the weight.

    Arguello would KO him

Rosario should win imo but he was less than the sum of the parts

Ganigan a major puncher, bigger and not afraid to just march right in and start throwing would be a big threat...he was basically a poor man's 122-126 manny with a very brief period of being very dangerous

Nazarov a darkhorse...would be at a speed disadvantage but had great heavy handed straight shots that he delivered viciously.

Won't be a popular pick but Mancini and Bramble could pose serious issues. One because he was durable and a fine infighter and counterpuncher while being the bigger and stronger man...Mancini for similar reasons to JLC and JLR, more the strength edge and the hand and footspeed to not get widely outquicked rather than the superior infighting technique though.

Other than that just the usual suspects that have been mentioned like young DLH(very big on size and physical tools at 135 especially) and slugger Shane.

Can't be arsed doing other weights.

Pacman is too easy to hit, and is not very accurate or co ordinated up close in my opinion. The only reason why he knocked them guys out? Was due to some mystery bionic speed and power, which has dramatically disappeared in a short amount of time.

Could be steriods in my opinion.
