What fighters of the past 30 years could beat Pacquiao in a firefight?

Literally, Thomas Hearns would beat Floyd Mayweather or Timothy Bradley or A N Other welterweight without a big punch 100 times out of 100, because stylistically I can't see how those guys would beat Hearns. He is a supreme boxer with real physical advantages over them.

Literally, I would not back Hearns to beat someone that weight with serious power 100 times out of 100, because he would get clipped and probably finished somewhere along the line.

Hearns was a much better welterweight than Felix Trinidad IMO, but would you really rule out Tito catching him once in a fiery exchange, and then being able to finish him off? Most times, Hearns boxes the chops off him and breaks him down. But unlike someone like Marvin Hagler, you just can't back Hearns in this type of hypothetical with the same assurance. JMHO.

It would be an amazing fight I think, but Pacquiao's speed would be the difference. Pacquiao is not Zab Judah or Sharmba Mitchell or Miguel Angel Gonzalez. He would not fold. He'd keep coming back with more, beating Tszyu to the punch, and would win out after a pretty epic struggle. Though of course, Tszyu carries the power to change the fight at any time, so I wouldn't be super-confident of this outcome.

Tito is definitely someone who would have a chance of knocking out Hearns. He's bigger than Pacquiao though, and one of the hardest punchers ever at 147.

Who do you think would win between Trinidad and Pacquiao?

Much like Tszyu-Pacquiao, I think Trinidad-Pacquiao would be dynamite. I fear maybe Tito would carry too much artillery for Pacquiao. Too big, too powerful. On the other hand, I think Trinidad looked stronger and sturdier at 154, I think his draining to make 147 left him a little weak in the legs sometimes, as proven by the people who knocked him down (Anthony Stephens anyone?). If Pac could catch him with really quick shots and drop him, the cards could be tight. But if Tito could manage to land solid shots on Pac, he could stop him. Who knows, it would be a fascinating fight for sure. If I had to bet money, I'd go with Tito I think.

I can't see any 5'6 or shorter boxer beating Hearns in 100 fights(where Hearns was near his best and not injured or slips and has a freak accident or any of those freak occurences that happen in sports). He's just too good/quick/powerful/accurate at long and mid range. Any fighter that small would have to have a masterful defence to pick off Hearns punches on the way to mid range and be as good/better at that range as Hearns, when he's still brutal at that range

If you were actually picking the ideal fighter of that size to do the job you'd go with someone like Duran who was that also bit bigger and he was completely outgunned

I think you overestimate Pac's punching power at 140 and 147 Pops.

He's still a snappy puncher and can surprise and blow out chinny hittable fighters at those weights like Hatton or Cotto, but there's probably been dozens of fighters from those weights who hit at least as hard straight up as him in this time frame.

Sure a lot won't be as talented or effective offensively, but nonetheless i don't think many of the geniunely really good 140 and 147 will have to fear Pac's firepower overly.someone like Tszyu? yeah he'll have to be careful if he found that Vince Phillips could wear him down, but i could see even Tito just walking through him eventually once he warms up to the unorthodox angles.

Bit tougher to predict how hard he hit at 135 though.
