Shane Mosley, he was never big enough for 154 but he moved up to take the second Oscar fight. Even at welterweight Shane was being outsized. Seems like he has little big man syndrome though, he stayed to fight a much bigger Vargas twice and Winky twice while clearly struggling with how big they both were. Same with Mayorga, that was a lose-lose fight, Shane was not going to beat him like Trinidad and Oscar did, he's too small and Mayorga came in at 170lbs. He should have made a career at 140 and 147.

I wouldnt say Trinidad ruined anything, it was one loss and even though smaller I don't believe the weight had anything to do with the great performance of Hopkins in that one.

Hatton - I didn't say since I don't believe it 'ruined' his career but it was a bad decision, maybe if we had a topic of 'Disastorous Fights while moving up' I'd Def put Hatton.

morales , i dont know whether it was the amount of weight he had to loose , i belive he went up to 160 when not training , but looked terrible after going up to lightweight to face raheem

I'd add Arguello to your list. Obviously the man had a hell of a career before he moved to 140, but on the other hand, he could have ruled the world at 135 for quite awhile, but he was never the same after the first Pryor fight.

On the other end of the spectrum, Little Red ruined his career by NOT moving up. He was having trouble making weight before he fought Sanchez, but instead of moving up he fought the guy TWICE!!!

Roy Jones Jr. seemes to be the obvous choice.
Pernell Whitaker was not the same after he went up to 154 and back down to 147.

Wilfredo Gomez - moved up to fight Sal Sanchez and got KO'd.
Alexis Arguello - moved up to fight Aaron Pryor and got KO'd twice.
Tito Trinidad - moved up to fight BHop and got KO'd.

Ricardo Mayorga stands out to me. He was a beast at 147 and should've stayed there instead of moving up and getting his face busted open by Trinidad and De La Hoya. If he had stayed he still probably would've been a big player in this current great era of welterweights.
