Your a moron. Listen to what Kellerman said after the fight, it was a travesty that that judge gave Oscar a split. It was complete domination. Listen before you actually act like you know anything about the fight, go to youtube and check out rounds 5(where mayweather nearly dropped DLH) and rounds 10. Complete domination. You can find those rounds on youtube. Oscar landed single digits in nearly half is rounds lol. Sillyness thinking it was even close.
I would consider not running getting in (and out of) the distance and staying close to effective punch range, blocking, slipping and slidin punches, trading, using little feints and countering which is all that Floyd doesn't do as often. Listen, this whole post exercise is highly misleading from the start of the thread cause Mayweather's seconds are the first ones to suggest him to avoid fighting - Ellerbe clearly sayin to Floyd at mid-stage against Baldomir "Walk around him" - what is this supposed to mean but to get out of punch range? Walk around, run or make best use of your legs is all the same - Mayweather's defense is largely based on staying out of effective punch range and coming in with unexpected right leads and leading left hooks, so I would say that most of his defense is based on movement. There's no way someone seriously can say this ain't so with a well-grounded argument so I think the whole issue is about the second meaning of the verb - to run - and the way it is perceived by Floyd fans like running means being a coward ( never said that)... Harold Lederman says Ricky uses hold n hook tactics, some say he brawls n wrestles and I don't see him bothered about it, so why would Floyd be with something that is not even illegal... Man, I will not use that run word again in order to come out of this thread without taking pot shots from stick n move posters...
You cannot say Floyd shoulda run just because Baldo had a good chin. Fair enough if he could punch to back it up, but he couldn't, so where is the excuse to run? Using lateral movement and unloading solid shots from mid range is what he shoulda, and coulda done, but he chose to run.
I'm sorry Haye, he said "blood, sweat and tears" and that he would test that ass too ( cause he said to Larry that he tested Baldo's ass n cried afterwards in the post fight presser cause it wasn't entertaining) - no, he doesn't test asses, he steals decisions "on the move".
The hatred for Mayweather the man is spilling over into Mayweather the boxer. The guy is a little **** (what chance did he have with a family like his), but is a master boxer. This running **** is ridiculous, he is fighting much bigger men.
The guy has no business at 154 or 147 for that matter he's fighting men much bigger and stronger than himself. When you move up in weight you have to box more or you will be KOed by bigger and stronger men. Look at his earlier fights he took a lot more risks because he was facing people his own size. And the he said he would KO Oscar thing is just ****ing stupid. It's called selling the fight and most boxers do it and it's been working quite well for him I might add. Hell both Vargas and Mayorga said they would KO each other but it didn't happen either.:deal
What else could these two crude sluggers do? They can't box to save their lives and that's why they'll never be in the same class as Money. BTW where the hell have you been? I just knew you'd be around after Cotto-Mosley.
I have really disagree with you on that Totally !! Floyd whole defense is staying with in range of his opponent , with a high right guard to protect from left hook to the body and the head , and very deep upper body movement to avoid straight rights . This is how he drains so much energy from his opponents . you can see evidence in the oscar fight , he stay close enough to Oscar to make Oscar throw punches , then pop oscar with about 2 or 3 punches to keep oscar hones but at the same time keep punching , almost like fishing you let the fish tire himself out before reeling him in . If you floyd had just employed a running tactic against Oscar, there no he would have drained enough of Oscar energy to try and take the last half of the fight , Oscar to big and too strong , to just run around the ring and expect him to tire out. Floyd style has always been based on stay close to his opponent but there is occasion where he will get on his toe and use his jab to set up combo against fast egressive fighters three fights come to mind Corrales and Emanuel Burton .. but if you look at floyd style he does a lot basic stuff, problem is that he master the basic so well that he make you think before moving in. Hatto and his trainer saw this and vowed to make floyd think this time , let see if they can do it.
Quite the opposite, he moved up to 154 pounds just for business and finantial reasons - ever since he fought Victoriano Sosa at 135 lbs in Fresno, CA, he said he wanted to move up to fight Oscar and that is obviously for the payday and the exposure, not for greatness. To me, Floyd is a 5'8'' tall well-built fighter that can fight either at 147 or 154 pounds without boxing away safe, he proved to be sharper and stronger than Hoya even though he was seemingly smaller ( Burt Sugar said so before the fight, that it was not proven that Oscar was stronger). Floyd did a better job selling the fight than Hoya and still is doing better than Hatton is that same concern. But there's a limit for everything and you can't say that you will do what almost everybody are not expecting you to. I enjoy Mayweather boxing and would never give any of those for Vargas vs Mayorga, that and suggesting that one is hating him is out of the question... There was a suggestion in this thread and it is being flipped around at this point only to make Floyd look like he's doing the best he can - No, he isn't! He should try to catch Ricky being first with the kind of faster slashing hooks from sideways and uppercuts right there inside the range, until he breaks his hands and Hatton. If he doesn't manage to do that, fight on the backfoot once again but don't expect to make much more money afterwards.
Thats silly if your going to nit pic because a fighter doesn't KO opponent .. Then to use to Vargus and Mayorga as example , in my opinion not the smartest boxer out there , because of there Style ... Vargus was done before the age of 30. Mayorga is just trying to get pay day anyway he can, we've already seen what a precise puncher will do to Mayorga , and we know he does not have an answer for a good boxer. Both Floyd or Cotto are better version of puncher and boxer then , Spinks and Felix based Cotto age and Floyd's skill.
Pit, I want people to disagree and explain why and so you did n that is not cause I am an attention seeker n I can't really keep replyin to something I don't have an idea about. Floyd has a masterful defense with that stance of his cause you can not get to him from his right side, sitting well on your shots and, as he rolls clockwise behind his left shoulder, you miss the target from there n cannot follow up with your left with enough leverage n simply get tangled. Floyd style has not been stayin close, he extends the leading foot towards his opponent and his whole body leaning backwards on the back foot so that he can throw those long fast shots from low senakin positions n get off as soon as his opponent comes in to connect to the body. From that position of his, he cannot thrown hooks or uppercuts - he just throws those kind of more powerful shots inside when he's pressured against the ropes and in spurts, it has been like this since Chavez till Hoya. Hatton is gonna try to be first with left hooks, get inside, crowd him and combine double left hooks at short distance (body-head) n right hook, and completely close the distance. Floyd probably pushes him back with the left arm ( like against Baldo in the first four) and slashes him with right uppercuts n short right counters. Mayweather doesn't have the strength to push Ricky back if he doesn't catch him like Collazo did in the 12th so expect Mayweather to fight with his back against the ropes and moving along the periphery of the ring, tryin to turn him there until he tires n slows down the pace - then, it'll be all Mayweather.
Lol,that what he did moron. Did you even watch the fight? Baldomir was obviously physically destroyed after the fight. People wanted floyd to finish him but with his hand hurt and Baldomir nearly impossible to KO that wasnt going to happen. But anyone who knows boxing knows it was a masterful performance.
To end this argument, Floyd does not run. That is just what it is. He used his legs more then usual in the Chico fight and in the Baldomir fight after he hurt his hand. Before that he stood right in the pocket with Baldomir the bigger stronger man. Baldomir got more physical and desperate as the fight went on and boxed less. So Floyd chose to box with his hurt hand and the Judah fight in the back of his mind. ODH was stronger then Mayweather in the fight, but ODH is not and has never been a physical fighter. He does not use his strength to muscle you. He is a boxer that fights better in the middle of the ring. And to that dumb opinion about Floyd not getting any more fights if he goes on the backfoot. What you fail to realize that he can stop hatton fighting on the back foot if hatton keeps coming forward getting hit with counters. If you chase Floyd around the ring with **** poor defense and no jab to hide behind you are getting ****ed up. The only success at offsetting Floyds game is a rangy fast jab, and that is only the beginning.
