Okay Al i just watched it through. Talk about the championship rounds eh? ****inhell! I thought Gomez was the better man all the way though, in terms of the scoring. At the end of the 12th, you think Pintor's one chance to achieve the unthinkable might have passed him by, when the bell went in the middle of a smashing he was giving to Gomez in the corner. But Pintor wasn't having that, he came out in the next round determined to carry on that good work, and the stoppage in the next round was brilliant by Gomez.
Yesterday I watched Benn v McClellan. I felt the same at the end as I do every time I have watched it - I wished I hadn't.
Recently watched Lupe Pintor vs Alberto Davila 2. What a cracking fight and a beautiful boxer Davila. I had him well up coming in to the 8th when Pintor's strength starting coming in to play. Pintor had the edge down the straight but this fight could of been fought in a phonebooth. The 14th and Pintor was landing great left hooks and uppercuts. Davila though kept coming back with eye catching shots landing flush. Every round was closely fought. Scorecards read 143-142, 146-142 Pintor and 143-143 and you could see a case for all 3, the rounds were that close. Without writing the scores down i had it probably about 2 points for Pintor. I'll be watching more of Davila though, a great little fighter.
just watched the taylor / froch fight to get me in the mood for the SMWT. dont think anyone needs an analysis.
