Barnett vs Kharitonov Josh threw away his UFC gold by relying on PEDS to beat Couture, he redeemed his career by going over to Pride and pitting himself against the best, although he came up short. Here though he dominated Sergey choking him out inside a round and now he's a big favourite against Cormier in the final.
Going into 2012 my ATG list looks like this now 1 Anderson Silva 2 Georges St Pierre 3 Fedor Emilianenko 4 Jon Jones 5 Jose Aldo 6 BJ Penn 7 Dominic Cruz 8 Matt Hughes 9 Dan Henderson 10 Kazushi Sakuraba 11 Frankie Edgar 12 Mauricio Rua 13 Gilbert Melendez 14 Wanderlei Silva 15 Rodrigo Nogueira 16 Shinya Aoki 17 Lyoto Machida 18 Takanori Gomi 19 Urijah Faber 20 Kid Yamamoto 21 Cain Velasquez 22 Rampage Jackson 23 Mirko Filipovich 24 Chuck Liddell 25 Randy Couture 26 Jake Shields 27 Junior Dos Santos 28 Rich Franklin 29 Royce Gracie 30 Luke Rockhold 31 Fabricio Werdum 32 Gegard Mousasi 33 Alistair Overeem 34 Frank Shamrock 35 Carlos Condit 36 Jacare Souza 37 Rashad Evans 38 Nick Diaz 39 Miguel Torres 40 Alexandre Nogueira 41 Sean Sherk 42 Tito Ortiz 43 Josh Barnett 44 Paulo Filho 45 Ken Shamrock 46 Daniel Cormier 47 Evan Tanner 48 Frank Mir 49 Anthony Pettis 50 Renzo Gracie 51 Benson Henderson 52 Hayato Sakurai 53 Mike Brown 54 Carlos Newton
Jardine was last seen in a close fight with Mousasi and he's earnt himself a title shot against Rockhold but Luke really shines here as he lands big shots including a huge right towards the end of the first which leads to a vicious follow up attack before the fight is ended.
Tate vs Rousey. Miesha is the defending champion but Ronda quickly takes her down locking in an arm bar but Tate gets out of it before Rousey hip tosses her to gain mount and fully lock in am arm bar that no one could escape from.
Cormier vs Barnett Cormier completely dominates Josh here as he out strikes him even landing big head kicks, but the craziest thing in this fight was watching Cormier slam Barnett. It's just weird watching Daniel dominate these huge fighters but that's what he's done.
Melendez vs Thompson Gilbert edges out this war to retain his place at the top of the strike force division. Time and time again he fights World class opposition and comes out on top.
Marquardt knocks out Woodley with a vicious elbow to end his unbeaten start to MMA. Rockhold just about beats Kennedy in a close hard fought title fight and it really is about time he pits his skills in the UFC.
Great points, tbf. But Gomi after the BJ fight and before the defeat to Aurrelio went on a tear. And that division isn Pride was the most stacked 155 going. But Aoki is really overlooked.
And that's pretty much the end of strike force as the big names all come over to UFC as it's place at the top of the MMA world is now beyond question.
He did go on a tear, I agree there with you I just don't see him beating those guys I listed. Either way he's definitely a great fighter, that can't be doubted.
Belfort vs Rumble. Rumble is clearly a great fighter, we know that now, but at this point he's too busy trying to cut weight hoping to get a physical edge on his opponents and against Belfort he pays the price as Vitor quickly takes his back and secures the choke.
