I am trying to find fights to watch where the southpaw stance shows a clear advantage over an orthodox fighter. Could anyone list down fights that show the tactical advantage? All I got from asking about the advantage is that lefties have it bec. most fighters train to fight right handed opponents. But I want to see the specific difficulties and techniques. thnx
Having difficulty with a southpaw comes from poor preparation. The only advantage that southpaws have is that they are used to fighting right handers, whilst the right handers don't fight southpaws as often. That said, there is no big mystery as to how to fight a southpaw. To be honest, I find it easier to fight southpaws.
Thanks. I always thought it was something like that. Do you have to do something different with your Jab and hooks though (when fighting southpaws)?
This one I missed. Will try to find it if I can. tnx Pac Hatton showed what a brawler can't do to a southpaw (**** and punch with the left).
seriously?! i always hated it. i don't have a great jab but i could never land on a southpaw and my position was completely awkward at first. without speed, fighting a southpaw, for me, was tricky as ****
watching the winky mosley rematch. Winky had the advantage of jabbing with his stronger right hand. At a southpaw stance, I can see why mosley can't get enuf of an angle.
mosley relies on speed, which can often neutralize a south paw. unfortunately he squared up too much, right into winky's game plan, had a poor straight right and he fired his punches into winky's guard. his foot position was as if he fought an orthodox fighter. btw: read the latest ring and hopkins analysis of fighting southpaws...BRILLIANT
