Folks, I thought HBO did a fine job / jobs in their film of "Tyson" from 1995 with Michael Jai White and George C. Scott and their 1997 film of "Only In America" with Ving Rhames... Yes, two different movies, but along the lines of one another... :deal What film suited and satisfied your needs the most?:huh C'mon...:bbb MR.BILL:hat
But I have "Tyson" rolling right now.... I just happened to find the tape earlier.... It is also good....... MR.BILL
I thought Ving Rhames did a terrific job as Don King. MUCH better than the other boxing movie Rhames did, "Phantom Punch" when he played Sonny Liston. According to that film: Liston's manager was a gangster who was about to be murdered by the mob because Liston did not throw the first Patterson fight but the manager placed a bet on Liston and won them millions. Liston was banging his manager's girlfriend (a former prostitute). His manager raped her when he found out. His manager told the Mob lies about Liston so they would murder him.
I never saw or even heard of that flick before.......:-( Rhames is still god as 'Marcellus Wallace' in "Pulp Fiction.":thumbsup I always liked Roger E. Mosley as 'Liston' in the '77 epic "The Greatest" with Ali..... :deal MR.BILL:hat
"You feel that sting?" Yeah, I remember reading reviews where the critics liked his performance better than Ali's.
I kinda' like Will Smith as "Ali" but I'm not thrilled with the film from Michael Mann... It could've been a lot better........ WORD! MR.BILL
Anyone see and like Showtimes version of "Marciano" from 1999 that starred Jon Favreau? I liked it...... MR.BILL
I saw it a long time ago. I thought it was alright. Jon Favreau will probably forever be this guy to me: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0PUrNwvvBk[/ame]
'Marciano' is the only flick I liked Jon Favreau in... He seems kool, but his later stuff doesn't grab me at all.... :-( MR.BILL:hat
