Good point, some people are good at a particular sport but they aren't good teachers. George Washington in Bed-Stuy (12-33), Adrian Davis in D.C.(21-19-2), and Mack Lewis (1-0) in Baltimore, were not famous fighters but they were good teachers and they developed a lot of good fighters. They did the hard part, they took untrained people and taught them to box. They are legends in their hometowns, but they are not well known to most boxing fans.

Rocky Marciano, as he would be ensuring i was the fittest i ever could be, and because of the esteem and respect he had for the blue riband title "What could be better than walking down any street in any city and knowing you're the heavyweight champion of the world?" you know that type of viewpoint would be instilled in any student of his in training camp.

No fancy dan but always found a way to win, i cannot imagine he would be interested in excuses by a student, as he himself had to overcome many deficits both physical and boxing wise to succeed, and fight through pain and injuries to prevail.

Marciano had been there and done that, so you would always know he was not asking you to do anything he had not done himself

Only time i would see myself standing up to him would be when i brought out my inner B.A. Baracus, "I ain't getting on no plane"

Buddy McGirt. And also I'm not one to sit (literally) so I wouldn't mind teddy Atlas hogging my chair. On a serious note though, there is this Russian guy in the Catskills teaching the peekaboo style. He seems pretty solid. I'd have to google his videos here it goes:

    That's a great call.

Being a southpaw, I would love to get some pointers from Sweet Pea.

George Benton, not only a good fighter but obviously had a good eye and was a trainer himself.

Archie Moore is another. So much experience and intelligence (though I would probably suck at using the cross guard)

Ricardo Lopez. Amazing fighter, great skill.

Sorry to tell you guys, but the thread poses the question of what champ you would want to train you. The Gibbons brothers, Sam Langford, George Benton, Jack Blackburn, Jimmy DeForest, Bill Miller, and even Apollo Creed (in real life) were not champions! Just sayin'"
