Prime for prime? Hard to say his 3 biggest prime performances saw him lose every time after being well up on the cards. He also got battered twice by greats.

His biggest opponent was himself so he was always fighting 2 guys :D it hard to say i think he would have a good chance against Valuev.

Which is why I said his 3 best performances.

The phrase world champion is quite loose.

Do I think he could ever beat someone who's been the best in the division?

Fitz, corbett, tunney, sharkey, braddock, charles, ingo, norton, m spinks, douglas, holyfield, bowe, old foreman, byrd.

Any of those he could beat on a day where he brought it all together; the guy had superb talent and a true heavyweight frame. It'd be extremely hard to outpoint him and you're pretty much relying on knocking him out (assuming absolute peak golota doesn't find a way to lose)

However, the reality is, he didn't have what it takes. He was a time bomb who seemed to have a set limit he could go before self destructing. I would give him a chance against all those I named but I wouldn't expect him to beat any one of them.

If you wanna include title holders who weren't top dogs, the field gets bigger and he probably picks up a few victories.
