unless weight draining was affecting his speed at CW i dont think he'll be much of a force at HW

People talk about the chin but Lewis was chinny and he did not do to badly!

Lewis was a master boxer and tactician, and this his chin was rarely exposed. That said, his chin wasn't half as bad as is made out

Haye's defence is nothing like as good, which is the worry

Lewis took some big shots from Tua, one of the most devastating punchers ever, and took them very well. His chin is underrated.

Haye's two biggest problems are bis chin and his apparent inability to keep his left hand up. The second one should be fixable, and he'll need to learn to do so to compete. The first should also improve some. You balance is much worse when you're water drained or were water drained recently, and Haye has been extremely water drained in several of his last few fights. In addition, moving up will allow him to work on his neck and shoulder muscles more, which helps the chin somewhat (less rattling of the brain if there's less snap of the head on a hard punch). There's a reason a lot of guys chins seem to improve as they gain weight (see: Cotto, Briggs), and there isn't a lot of reason to think his chin wouldn't improve a bit as well.

Also, I can't name 3 current HWs who have both a good punch and a good chin who Haye couldn't box circles around. Sam Peter might be a problem. Tua and Briggs are too inactive and too immobile to present a real threat for someone who moves well. Wlad, Rahman and Maskaev all have glass jaws themselves. Chagaev, Valuev, Chambers, Povetkin, Thompson, Ibragamov and Lyakhovich aren't huge punchers. There's little reason to think he couldn't hold his own.

He looked like that due to adopting a a strategy when he didn't throw to many punches due to struggling to make the weight. The punches he did throw however were fast and accurate. watch any other Haye fight, especially Bonin to see that. There on youtube.

What people have gotta realise is that 230lbs of muscle is better than 250lbs of fat when it comes to punch power, speed and accuaracy, as well as being able to take a punch and push opponents around.

although i did watch Jirov vs Toney recently but maybe thats too high a standard for guys like Mormeck and Haye right now.

The main reason why I think hell make an impact at heavy is because the heavyweight division is full of overrated donkeys...

Well the fact that he blasted the **** out of Jean Marc Mormeck ought to be something. Its not like he's fought bums, he's the top man in the cruiserweight division and that division is a hell of a lot more competitive than the Heavyweights.

Excactly, Haye stands a chance with all the heavyweight Champions. i dont claim that he will be the next Lennox Lewis, but to say he definately cannot make an impact is a tad premature.

look at the guys who hold the titles right now, all very beatable, all have weaknesses and all dont get the adrenaline going. David haye will had some much needed spice to the heavyweight division which nobody has talked about since VK left!

Even the top dog at heavy, Wladimir klitschko is very beatable, if a fast start and a big puncher like Sanders can beat wlad i cant see why Haye couldnt. Thats not to say I think he would beat Wlad, but its a decent possibility all the same.

Oh how I wish James Toney was still in good physical shape and able to make CW again. I would absolutely love to see Toney vs Haye go at it rofl what a match that would be.

Haye would knock Toney out. I like Toney but he never beat anyone that was good. he wo his title against weak champs and never unified.
