Matt Skelton has a title shot.....

That tells me he'll be a success.

Simple. The HW division is a joke right now. Be honest klitschko aside no other HW is that good. To be a top ten HW in the world is far easier then to make the top ten of any over weight right now by a mile. Haye (although I think he will lose to Enzo at CW) is fast and powerful and has some boxing skill which you can not say about many top ten HW's. Peters is tipped as a real threat for the title but he is nothing and would have been knocked out in a round by the 1980's HW's let alone the 1970's HW's. Sadly the HW division is a joke and has been for several years now. Can't see it changing anytime soon.

The heavyweights are pretty **** at the moment. There needs to be an enema at the top of the division, there's way too many aging out of shape B-level fighters lingering around at the top, occupying title shots and belts and stopping the new talent coming through. I'm talking about guys like Golota, McCline, Ruiz, Barrett, Holyfield, Oquendo, Tua, Rahman, Briggs, Maskeav etc who over the last few years have all got title shots they didn't deserve, merely because they had some name recognition.

Who did Shannon Briggs beat to earn his shot against Lyakovich? What did Holy do? Maskeav's standard of opposition was terrible before the Rahman fight. Both of those fighters are totally shot, why are they even fighting each other for the title?

Lets see some new blood in the heavyweights, and lets see the networks giving them some exposure rather than only putting on fights with the established names. Why do we need to see Hopkins fight? or Trinidad - Jones? They're even talking Tyson - Holyfield III god help us. Invest in some new talent, fighters like Hatton and Cotto can draw box office if they invest a little in proper promotion and marketing like HBO and 24/7.

There's exciting guys out there, like Haye and Solis and Povetkin, and the networks should start showing them off. They should do full fight programmes, not on PPV, of young heavyweights to find some new stars. The heavyweight division is the flagship division of boxing, the one with the most variation and potential excitement, and it needs some investment. If they promoted it right, like a search for a new heavyweight type thing, like contender, then it could be a huge success.
