i personally like gloves heavier around 16-18oz but most the bag gloves are only 8-12

i had everlast 16oz training gloves at worked well for me but as my techniques and power got better my knuckles started hurting when hitting bags

would bag gloves be better for my hands and if theres a chance that fellow members have a good glove that can hit the bags with great protection and at least 14oz

    thanks in advance

I've NEVER had knuckle problems with gloves on, wrist yes, thumb yes, but not knuckle.

you could have tremendous power or brittle hands

I had the same situation. I don't have brittle hands however as I have spoken to a doctor.

***Grant gloves offer EXCELLENT padding but cost a pretty penny. They are a good investment however.

I was using 14 ounce gloves, now I moved up to 16.

Also make sure you are wrapping your hands properly as well....some people forget and just slap on bag gloves thinking they're "enough".

If you are experiencing knuckle issues, try mexican handwraps. They have more length and thus, you can wrap around your knuckles for more protection.

    Hope this helps :happy

i think i have some pretty heavy hands but again i only have 2 kos in my 5 fights :( so in the end i will have to admit i have brittle hands

i look over ringsides bag gloves section and found most of them 12ozs

i came to the conclusion of 2 gloves at similar price

    http://www.ringside.com/detail.aspx?ID=25499
these are 14ozs and i have heard lots of good reviews about it

    http://store.titleboxing.com/titleboxing-gel-world-bag-gloves.html
these are 20oz that look like 12oz i love the size but i have heard another friend with the training gloves that uses it to hit bags and have some problems with it after 6 months but again these are bag gloves and it can be diffferent

any ideas? need some advice which one i should get

Due to the extra padding(headgear) and heavier padded gloves... I would say you hit decent.

It's hard to get knockouts in amateur....I would say even more hard than the professionals as you are not only developping but protected.

For example, look at the olympics...not alot of knockouts for the amount of fights happening. Not as many cuts either which, in the end, can count as TKOs... so yea.

Knockout percentage in amateur levels are VERY decieving when it comes to power.
