Trying to box Wilder for 12 rounds just seems like way too much of a gamble: all it takes is a second and he could get knocked down or even KO'd. So I assume Fury has to go aggressive, but maybe he'll pretend his strategy is boxing for the first round or something. Who knows? Not me. Fury surprises me every time -- I have to think he'll surprise me this time too.
Stick and move for a couple of rounds then turn up the heat as soon as he thinks Wilder is slowing down.
He landed early last time. It didn't discourage Fury from advancing (though he would later acknowledge that one of the shots had buzzed him). He landed big in the 12th of their first bout, and it was tantamount to hitting the 'ON' switch on an asskicking machine — Fury recovered, rocked him in a subsequent exchange of fire and walked him down the remainder of the round. You're not wrong in saying that Wilder needs to punch Fury hard. But, if Tyson's strategy is to stick it on Wilder, Wilder is going to need to lay him out cold to stop him coming — otherwise, the madman just absorbs it and gets stronger.
Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if he is trying to get Wilder out of there within 3 rounds and runs at him. He looks the most livid I've ever seen him.
I dont think Wilder was really expecting Fury to attempt to walk him down. That really threw Wilder for a loop as physically he was'nt prepared or even trained for the possibility of Fury laying his weight on him. Usually a rematch after getting stopped goes much worse for the fighter who got stopped, but in this case I'm thinking that Wilder knowing Fury is capable or walking him down, will have a game plan to be able to better handle that. In that second fight, Fury crowded and layed his weight on Wilder, Wilder could'nt get his punches off in the position he found himself in. What you do in training camp for this 3rd fight, is train to punch out of being put in such positions by a physically stronger man. I have to believe that Wilder's sparring partners have been big Heavyweight attempting to maul him on the inside and keep him from punching, so even if Wilder is unable to beat Fury, I am expecting a better showing than he had in the second fight.
If Fury fights like you suggest, my feeling is it will be Fury who will be put to sleep. Fury is'nt stupid. He might come out aggressive but he wont be looking to take Wilder out inside 3 rounds.
Fury won't run at him like a madman, but he will be straight on him. He has zero respect for Wilders defensive game and knows he can withstand the punch.
Lot could depend on how the fight is officiated. It was interesting that they switched referee's, Ortega due to ref the July bout, now it's Russell Mora.
He has to know that going forward is his best choice... so I expect to see a lot of the second fight in there. However, is it possible he gets a bit tired in there staying aggressive like that and starts to allow for spaces in the action by being a bit more of a boxer in there towards the middle rounds.... I think it's possible. But I expect him to come out strong.
