Well for me it was when i was like 8 or 9 year's old.Buy that time JCC was the ****:deal My father and his homies and uncle's alway's took the tv outside and watch all kind of fight's there where LOT'S of great fighter's by that time like Lopez Sweet pea and the list goes on and on So sometime's i didn't put much attention cause i was just a kid well just like the very first 2 or 3 fight's.But from there on i have NEVER stop watching BOXING MAN I LOVE THIS SPORT. So what about you guy's?
My family use to love to watch Oscar fight. Then when he would be on pay per view I would watch on the tv. I believe it started with Oscar vs Vargas then Oscar vs Campas and then vs Mosley and thinking Mosley should have lost just by myself. Before this though I think my cousins and uncles use to come over and we saw Trinidad De La hoya live and the Whitaker fight as well and being sort of like a family party type of thing. My mom is a huge Oscar fan. Then around this time I saw Lewis Tyson as well. being a Tyson fan just because well hes the crazy black man plus I watched him on wwf with DX lol. I remember wanting Tyson to win and just come back and knock him out with one punch and remember being upset with Lewis holding all the time and happy when the ref deducted a point. After this I believe I saw Tyson vs Etienne and then Klitschko vs Lewis and becoming a huge Klitschko fan after that for beating up the guy that beat Tyson in a boring fashion to me at the time before I knew more about boxing. And glad to see how Klitschko complained about the stoppage made me even more of a fan of his. then it just went on and on and became more involved with wanting to know more about boxing and other boxers
Watching old school Tyson with my brothers. He was amazing and so entertaining. Kind of like realizing pro wrestling is fake, I later learned that Tyson was limited, but he was the reason I got into boxing.
My great Uncles became friends with Archie Moore while Archie was shooting a film near his ranch. Family started calling him Uncle Archie. My Uncle asked me about boxing when I was fairly young and I told him it seemed cool but I'd never really seen any fights, so he sent me a tape of some Archie Moore fights along with some articles and personal memorabilia, like postcards and autographs. First fight that was on the tape was Moore v. Durrell and I have been hooked ever sense.
Ali... then Tyson... then Naseem (believe it or not)... then Morales... Ive always watched boxing but those were the guys that kept me interested when the sport hit a few rocky patches. Some of my other favourite fighters like SRL, JCC & Duran were fighters I looked forward to watching but I missed a lot of their smaller fights against the Dave green, Andy Holligan & Kirkland Langs of the world at the time they actually fought them but obviously have caught up thanks to video footage once their careers were over. I still find it somewhat hard to watch 2 fighters that I find boring but do try & watch any kind of boxing now more than ever, you always learn something new.
Same here. I got it from my dad. He is an old school Mexican fight fan. I was just a kid when my dad used to take me to watch Chavez fights. I am from L.A. too and boxing is big time in Los Angeles.
