Going to the library and reading old ring magazines, the hype behind Delahoya vs Chavez 1 in LA was pretty big.
DLH-Vargas at first but I was in and out of it the but when I was at a friends house he ordered Roy Jones-John Ruiz... and after that fight I became hooked and became a huge Roy Jones fan.
From Jersey City,New Jersey, presenting the ultimate blood and guts warrior......Arturo ''Thunder'' Gatti
Being from Palmer Park Maryland, I kinda feel I was born into it as Sugar Ray Leonard was literally a boxing GOD. It was like an honor to go to his gym as a kid and even though he wasn't there alot, it was really neat to live in such a close proximity to one of the greatest of ALL TIMES... Watched alot of Ali tapes as a kid As the 90's proceeded, Evander Holyfield, Tito Trinidad, and Erik Morales, IMHO really brought out the best of the sport and I miss their primes deeply....
The fighter of the 90s The Golden Boy, I was shocked when the judges gave Trinidad the win over Oscar.
Hamed. I didn't like the guy personally but what an entertainer he was. His ring entrances were AMAZING; he had massive punching power and he had a seriously leaky defence. This meant you were always going to get entertainment. My first boxing memory is his Kelley fight. I remember him telling Kelley at the press conference he would get him a job at at HBO putting posters up!lol! I was glad when he was exposed by Barrera, but I can thank him for getting me into this great sport.
Roy Jones jr, the first fight I can remember watching live was him beating the snot out of Vinny Paz. I was hooked after that, I used to get all of the ODLH PPV's as well with a bunch of friends in High School too.
I remember when I was a kid my dad bought little boxing gloves. We used to pretend fight I was like 3 or something. We used to wach it on the tv. We never had cable we lived in a very small town. I also used to rent movies about boxing. When it stoped showing on tv i didn't follow it for a while. Resently after playng the fight night video games I started to follow boxing again, now I will catch almost all the fights. Awsome sport.
