Les Darcy. IMO, a great fighter or at worst, a fighter on the very threshold of true greatness but one who was tragically taken too soon at just 21 yo. Don’t seem to hear/read a lot on Les but I did find this old discussion thread which is pretty cool:- https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/les-darcy-the-greatest.129932/ Tommy Burns, For a long time, just a relatively inconsequential marker in the career of Jack Johnson - though some are beginning to realise and say “Hey, that little fella could actually fight and punch for his weight!” Burns v Langford would’ve been fun - comparable height and reach - I think Tommy would've given a good account of himself but I’d have to favour Sam in the ultimate outcome.
Holman Williams gets a scant mention. Cocoa Kid too. Chang is loved here but where else? Jimmy Bivins is better then I and a lot of people usually credit him for being. I'd go as far as calling Trinidad and Mosley underrated they were overshadowed by a lot of guys as time went on but they are what they are. Eder Jofre is one who could always do with more love. Lionel Rose, Fammo and Fenech too. Who remembers Ol Buddy McGirt kindly besides us? I'd venture to say there are literally hundreds of great fighters in our history and even more guys just short of that...
