    Anyway in response to Clobber

    http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content6455.html
I first came across that possibility when Ron Frazier brought it to light in this article.

    http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/11/10/09/cotto-pacquiao-address-weight-issues
Here is another article of Cotto breaking down his plans to not weigh much more then 145 on fight night around 148 or less.

Cotto was notorious for weighing in way heavier then his opponents on fight night. He damn sure didn't way in at 148 or less for Margarito or Mosley or Malinaggi or Judah or Quintana. All of a sudden he wants to weigh in that little for Pac and had it pre-determinded to weigh that low.Why not just rehydrate properly and then if you come in at 147 or 150 so be it. He had it predetermined because that was one of the clauses to there fight. Just like DLH weighing in 147 on fight night vs Pacman.

You can also compare Cotto's size in his previous fights vs Mosley and Margo or even fight before that compared to his size vs Pac for more visual evidence. Its not something I made up, it was brought up by someone on the inside in Ron Frazier. Then its backed up by a lot of logic and evidence.

The view of it effecting him is my own personal opinion. I am also asking you and LukeO your opinion that if Cotto weighed in at 154 would the fight have been more competitive?

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/2008-12-05-de-la-hoya-pacquiao-weigh-in_N.htm

De La Hoya came in weighing 145pds at the weigh in. Why would he come in 2pds lighter then 147 which is already very demanding for him as he has not fought at that weight for 8yrs. Its because he knew he had to be at 147 on fight night. So he looked to come in 2pds lighter this way it could ease his ability to rehydrate and still be around 147 to honor the clause.

He needlessly drained himself of 2 extra pounds just to regain them?

Your first article is complete hearsay and no more reliable than yourself saying the same thing.

And the fighter in the second article saying that he would weigh 148 or less on fight night is Pacquiao, not Cotto. That article tends to disagree with your assertion rather than support it because firstly you have Pacquiao talking about coming in at 148 on the night and secondly you have Cotto saying he is happy with the 145 weigh in and no mention of having to be at 147 the next night.

now please tell me why would Oscar only weigh in at 147 on fight night after cutting so much weight? Why wouldn't he at the very least go to 150?

    Ask Oscar.

You can speculate all you want, but HBO commented on it and didn't say anything about it being mandatory.

Maybe he wanted to be smaller to try to be faster against pac.

It wouldn't make sense unless he couldn't weigh more then 147 or around that on fight night.

Then it makes a ton of sense. As it makes more sense to weigh 145 then come up to 147 on re hydration rather then weighing 147 then have to cut that weigh back after rehydrating.

I am supported by the fact that Cotto has never looked to weigh that little except vs Pac, which is also backed up by the fact that DLH never looked to weigh that little except for Pac.

You have every right to ignore it and beleive what you want to. I presented my views and my beliefs. It is what it is.

You presented one guy making the same unsupported assertion that you did and one article that didn't say what you said it did.

Why should I believe you over Miguel Cotto?

Cotto never said anything of the sort. There's not even a mention of Cotto talking about what he'll weigh on fight night in the article you linked. The other article was from a jealous trainer who had absolutely nothing to do with either fight and never saw the contracts.

According to De La Hoya he had been below 147 for several weeks before the weigh in. If that's the case he was not dehydrated at all and there was nothing for him to rehydrate to, that was how much he actually weighed at that point.

Unless he was lying, but why would he lie?

From what I recall, Oscar truly lost all that weight, perhaps in fear of the huge penalty for every pound over 147 lbs., instead of dropping the last few pounds by dehydrating a few days before weigh in. Oscar lost muscle to make this weight, 4 weeks before the fight, and in the process shrunk his stomach.

His 147 lbs. fight night weight was his REAL weight. Being a pro boxer that long, I find it hard to believe Oscar didn't know any better that losing weight this way for a fight is not good.
