Used to be that even Mike Tyson wasn't good enough to make the US team

Post Roy Jones being robbed in 88 the computer scoring system came in.

Their amateurs have access to very good gyms & very good trainers but don't fight in a way which is rewarded by that system.

Thankfully the amateur scoring is going back to the 10 point must system & I think American amateur will have more success.

I believe that there are less boxing gyms in America and fewer boxers. Probably less trainers as well.

Our amateurs are too concerned with the pros which they should really. If you looked at Spence's fights, Joseph Diaz, or Ramirez's fights in the Olympics, you could say they won all their fights in a pro scoring system, but they lost.

We have good amateurs. Jose Benavidez would have done great in the Olympics, but he decided to go pro at 17.

    ****er.

It is funny though, when people sometimes remark and poke fun that he "only won bronze lolz" ignorant to the fact that he shouldn't of lost. He would've been gold like SRL and Whitaker.

The former communist countries do nothing in boxing, apart form the currently very shallow heavyweight division. Why do you think that is? Why are no eastern Europeans capable of being the best divisions in boxing?

If bronze is good enough for Holy then its good enough for Floyd :bart

It hasnt exactly prevented him from earning a decent wage & there have been plenty of gold medalists who flopped in the pros. Perhaps it made him that little bit hungrier & did him some good in the long term.
