This thread is about the olympics. The former communist Countries have always dominated all the weight classes at the games when taking part. It was always a massive rarity when they didn't medal in a weight class. It's hardly a big secret now is it?

    ^^^ Exactly.

The harsh truth is that the US populace has lost the "eye of the Tiger" due to becoming a soft, somewhat spoiled society. Even the poor in the US have it better than most in the middle in many countries, including the former Soviet block. It started with the white US populace (long gone are the Dempseys & Marcianos), then later to the blacks. In general newcomer Hispanics in the US still have some of that old grit to produce top boxers, but that's about it.

Isn't it odd to see the Brits - with a much smaller populace than the US - have as much or more HW talent than the US? Add in the East, and Euros are dominating the HW div. and are represented in the lighter div's. Sore loser Americans respond by saying the current HW div. is "weak" "shallow" etc. :-( Sadly as many post on here, once the US doesn't win at something, they just dismiss it - like spoiled brats.

Unfortunately, reality will keep on biting :yep

Ironically, as the US continues to decline economically, we might start producing more top amateurs and pros.

I think it's a combination of these factors.
Including the lack of interest for the sport in the US, wich has largely to do with big fights being PPV.
