It's all about how long you keep a fighter like Algieri in what boxing folk would call 'the cage'. They let him out of the cage after the first round against Provodnikov unfortunetly they decied not to let him out of his cage at all in this one.
he was on the move throwing no punches the jab was the key for algeri and he didnt use it properly or hes just to featherfisted to even matter
He had only 20 pro fights under his belt coming into this match. He had no business at this juncture in his career to share a ring with an ATG like Manny Pacquaio. The problem is HBO doesn't have many options for manny; they can't get JMM to accept a 5th fight, there's no point for a 3rd Bradley matchup, and guys like Provo/Rios/Alvarado are just not on the same tier. Thankfully if this Cold War is truly over, guys like Khan and Garcia might be able to get a crack at Pacman, although they're haymon guys. A matchup I'd love to see is pacman against thurman, but I don't think arum would accept such a low reward/high risk fight. Only sensible matchup now is mayweather-pacman. Theyve been so dominant for so long that there's no other marquis fights for them around their weight classes besides fighting each other.
Because guys without a good right hand are worthless against Pac. End of story. If you are a left hand happy fighter you can't do much to Pac. Cotto, Barrera, De La Hoya, Algieri. That's all there is to it. You need a good straight right hand to break up Pac's rhythm when he dashes in and out. Left hooks and jabs don't get the job done. Right hand guys (Marquez, Morales) give him a much much harder time.
Thurman and duckweather jr are also gaymon guys.on top of all the other bullsh!t arum and gaymon hate each other and don't want to work together that's the real cold war and why I think the those fights wont happen.how about Pacquiao vs kelly brook in wembley stadium?
That's the major issue with this Cold War imo. Until I see a haymon guy in the ring with a TR guy, than who knows how much this boxing war is actually over at this point. I remember Oscar stated a while ago he was trying to figure out how many of his fighters are actually his and not co managed by haymon. And Haymon has a really deep stable at this point. I wouldn't mind seeing khan or Garcia get a crack at pacman just for it symbolizing that this stupid "Cold War" is over. As far as brook, I think he's a nice fighter, but he hasn't done enough yet at this point in his career to warrant a match with Pacman. On the business side of things, I'm sure it would be a massive success if it occurred at wembley. Almost any type of boxing match that happens at wembley stadium with an elite fighter will do well monetarily. Personally I think a mayweather-khan matchup at wembley stadium would do better than brook-pacman, but I'd rather not see either of those fights as a boxing fan. The best idea is khan and brook fight each other in April in the uk while May and pacman also fight in May. The winners take each other on in the fall for the undisputed WW championship.
Yeah...and Pac was a 1/16 favorite. What happened last night was exactly what was expected to happen.
