It's dire. Most of our world champs would be euro level in better era's. Why don't we produce master technicians any more? Of the likes of John Conteh, Michael Watson, Ken Buchanan, Howard Winston, Jimmy Wilde ect???? I remember talk of Frankie Gavin being our next great ring technician but he fell away. Or athletic freaks. Where are they?? Naz, Bomber, Lynch ect. We dont do athletic freaks anymore just plodding re****s :verysad Where are our Iron chinned warriors??? The celtic nations produced plenty then the Welsh went and embarrassed us by producing Enzo 'I fight like I've been spiked with benzo's' Maccarinelli. Where are our monster punchers of the likes of Benn and Wilde. I remember us Brits once creamed over the power of George Groves and Kev 'Well preped' Mitchell ffs atsch
All the good British fighters are playing American Football and Basketball etc over in the states. The reason Frankie Gavin faded was due to him playing Little League Baseball.
Tyson Fury's the legitimate heavyweight champion of the world. And our #2 heavyweight seems to be a pretty good power puncher. I remember the days when British heavyweights had no proper success. I must admit, below heavyweight most the British fighters are a joke. These "world titles" are a joke.
Very true! Good heavyweights These celeb fighters like Khan and Haye are parasites, dodging and picking fighters then running their mouth off until they land a big money fight, fake as ****.
Dont forget Heavyweight boxing is embarrassing right now. One of the worst era's in its history in terms of talent. Tyson Fury deserves props. AJ on the other hand is a big stiff idiot with a suspect mandible. Big Lennox would have smashed the two of them on the same day inside 3 rounds :deal In fact Lennox could smash the whole top ten on the same day.
If Britain had 12,13,14 however many champs, does it say more for the state of British or World boxing
What has happened to British boxing? The government pumped millions into the amateur sport and now the pro sport as strong as it has been since the 1880s. What a terrible era for new fans to live in...
Where's the special talent though? For such a special era in UK boxing not one of them is better than anything we produced in the past. The reason the UK is doing well belts wise is because we are in an era of low talent pool, the era of paper champions that avoid each other in favour of padding their records fighting bums. We're now living in the era of embarrassments. Boxing right now produces embarrassments after embarrassments.
That's five fighters over a time span of around 80 years - seems a bit unfair to expect this exact moment in time to match the select best of many generations
You had to be a top top boxer to even get a British title 15/20 years ago. Much easier now, a lot more kids are getting into that mma *******s
I obviously could have mentioned a lot more. Driscol, Welsh, Berg, Fitszimmons, Mgowan, Honeyghan, Moran ect, the list is endless. My point is for such a successful era in UK boxing how come we don't have at least one superb talent? Boxing has regressed so bad that past boxers who couldn't get near a world title in their era would smash **** up in this one.
