I like Canelo, but he's always not had much power. Bang average power. He only looks powerful when he's fighting glass jawed fighters like James Kirkland, Amir Khan, Rocky Fielding, Avni Yildirim.
Sure I can. I imagine them moving up in weight, and suddenly being unable to stop bigger men. Canelo is what; 5´8? All of the welterweights are taller than him. He dragged Charlo up two weight classes and was the shorter man. Now he is fighting a guy who was a welterweight two fights ago - and hes again the shorter guy. Dude is a midget fighting at 168, while others his height are fighting at Lightweight. Canelo started his career at 140 and now is champ at 168, even competed at 175.
Clenelo hasn't suddenly stopped being able to get SMWs out of there since he moved up to that weight he KO'd career 175 Kovalev in HL reel fashion up ay LHW, far from the prime version of Kovalev for sure but that version of Clenelo doesn't go four years with stopping anyone, especially vs most of the guys he has been facing of late. He knocked out career 168/175 Rocky From Stocky at 168. He knocked out Yildirim at 168 He weighs 178-180 at SMW Twink has moved up in weight and KO'd almost all his opponents at higher weights. GGG and Beterbiev would not go four years without registering a stoppage win if they fought at higher weights, especially vs opponents of the quality Clenelo has been cherrypicking. It just wouldn't ever happen Clenelo's KOs have dried up partially due to size but also because he's past his prime
It has to do with his low output. His footwork is getting worse, which decreases his ability to position himself to deliver his power punches. He doesn't find the target as easily as he once did. He used to be extremely proficient at disguising his big hooks, but now fighters know exactly what he’s doing and what to expect. He’s doing the same thing over and over, and Bivol exposed that. That definitely doesn’t help. Other than that, his hand speed looks about the same as it was, and his conditioning appears similar as well.
Lost some torque, lost the third punch on the combo, will get countered to death on that punch, will have to try to win fights with the one-two now I say.
People joke about it all the time, you clearly were doing so too. Doesn't mean that he didn't get busted, and used a ridiculous excuse.
And going by our little conversation here; I guess you believe that he still "eats clenbuterol enriched steaks".
Floored Berlanga. Floored Munguia. Floored Charlo. Floored Ryder twice. Floored Plant twice and stopped him. Broke Saunders' face. Knocked out Kovalev. Crawford hasn't floored anyone above welterweight, let alone stopped anyone above 147. They are hyping the hell out of this matchup, calling it the fight of the century. But I'm just not seeing it.
It's all about stamina, he hurts someone but unless they are falling apart, he doesn't have the hability to turn the gear up and is always reaching if the guy dances away. He can't fight a hard pace, trying finishing someone hard and not succeding, will make him look bad and spent in the later rounds, like the Ryder fight, it's better just cruise on the scorecards, pick some shots here and there, he is always on fumes by the last 3 rounds, fighting in tiny offensive spurts.
It has to be the PEDs. Exactly, he wasn't a KO artist at 154, magically started breaking people's faces and bashing up durable SMW's. That's PED's. The guy who couldn't hurt Cotto was causing 'I like streetfight' GGG to fight him like a Lemieux. It's possible he doesn't have the same PEDs or maybe the side-effects or even better testing were causing problems.
