Irish HW prospect, hasn't boxed for over a year. Formerly trained by Virgil Hunter then seemed to be making good progress under Big Peter Fury. Was talented but perhaps featherfisted. Looks like he has quit boxing. Twitter has been inactive for months and no boxing related IG posts since the turn of the year. Just pictures of him drinking and he looks skinny as hell.
Wow! I just had a look at his Instagram as well, your right mate, he is weirdly really skinny...? Maybe he is unwell or treating something, hence his inactivity.
Had a lot of hopes for this guy but he always seemed in the dumps from the interviews I saw about all if the injuries he had. Wouldn't be surprised if he called it quits for that reason.
He was awful, he had no power. He and Peter Fury probably just realised he wasn't good enough to do anything. Same with their HW stablemate Tom Aspinall.
Is it possible the lack of power was caused by the injuries? Maybe he has the same thing Hugh Fury had that put him out. Or even Mavrovic.
Even then he was still performing well enough at that level. Jonathon Rice and Kamil Sokolowski are both tough as nails and better than their records suggest. Still would be an asset to the division and probably only starts to have issues at world level even without power.
Was just wondering about him earlier today. I remember reading some hype articles years ago saying he was going to do big things at heavyweight, but then he just disappears. Anybody know what happened?
Sheehan said: “I fractured my right hand and did ligament damage. "It was a bad injury and they were humming and hawing about operations. “I was at my limit then anyway. I was ready to jack it. Things were going s*, I was getting promised the world but life was changing and I was getting older. TIME TO SAY GOODBYE “I had to live. I had to make money and I wasn’t going to live in mammy and daddy’s house for the rest of my life. I had to go out and make a few bob, didn’t I? “Another couple of fights you’re making big money — but time was slipping away from me. Advertisement "I just had enough. I wasn’t getting fights that excited me. "I thought it would be different when I was going pro. I was getting old. Sick of struggling.”
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. A shame that happened to him. I watched some film of his last night and while he may not have had power he sure had good speed for a big guy and I liked his jab too. Wish we could have seen what he was capable of as he stepped up.
One of the things about him being 'skinny' is he was really a cruiserweight bulking up to heavyweight because that was where the money was at. Con is about 6'4 and has a good athletic build. He would have made cruiserweight fairly comfortably as a pro and been a big one.
