He came out of the gate with such hope, but then the losses started piling up. Now, he's lost to the likes of Robert Hawkins. What's happened to him, and what's in store for him?
What in store for him?? He'll be a trialhorse for young up and comers - a name opponent on prospects' resumes. As to why he flopped so badly, I suspect he just wasn't as good as advertised. What were his best wins? Dokawari?? A muscle-bound mediocrity. Grant? Damaged goods. Fraudley?? A glass-jawed joke.
He's done Hoss, stick a fork in him. I see him fighting nobodies for the next 5 years and then retiring, his hope's of ever getting a chance at the title has been erased with his last loss to Hawkins.
What happened was that Guinn was never that good, and once he stepped up, it was proven. But as you said, he's now repeatedly being beaten by C level fighter, he used to be able to beat. So he has now slipped from his previous B level, down to C, if not D. What has caused him to slip to a level even lower than he was before, who knows.
Fighting tentatively isn't the same thing as having no heart, guys. I don't think anyone really could have seen that Guinn was going to be such a disappointment before his loss against Barrett. I personally didn't see anything that made me think at the time that he was vastly overrated.
