He had too long an amateur career, which basically means he is burnt out. Most people's body and mind can only perform at a top level for a certain period of time.

This is pretty much it. Guinn was never a guy with vastly superior speed or power, but he was a talented boxer with good technique and the ability to put together well executed combos. I think that after the Barrett loss he lost confidence in himself and simply didn't have the mental makeup to pull the trigger enough in the ring. A fighter like Guinn must absolutely be willing to let his hands go in the trecnches in order to win bouts--he simply isn't going to knock guys out. For some reason, Guinn lacks the discipline and mentality to maintain enough of a workrate to beat boxers that he should be beating. No one has ever destroyed him, all of his losses have much been cases of being outworked: Barrett, Liakhovich, Toney (no idea what to do in that one), Thompson, Chambers, and Hawkins all outhustled him.
