Honestly when i saw this guy fight dowkari i thought he could beat the klitsckos . the dude had talent.Guinn had quick hands, put combinations together real well , good power. a good jab , he punched to the body . an excellent couterpuncher especially against duncan dokiar. he made him miss and he made him pay . Why didnt this guy become the next great heavyweight?.

How old was that fight with dowkari? Like 5 years ago. I think he's too small for todays heavyweight. He's like the rocky Juarez of the heavyweight.

    Dominic "refuse to win" Guinn.

He's just one of those guys who can't put it together when he needs it the most. He'll snatch defeat form the hands of certain victory; like Golota, like McCline...
They are like the opposite of Ruiz, who has more will than talent.

Guinn looked like the next big thing at the time of the Dokiwari fight. In hindsight the fight was probably deceiving, Dokiwari was cut early and it was a pretty nasty cut. That and Dokiwari, though a pretty good fighter, really wasn't a "natural" fighter, he kinda had to think about what punches to throw instead of just reacting with his punches.

Another thing is Guinn, I think, had something like 300 plus amateur fights. So he was probably getting close to being burnt out by the time he turned pro. I think Guinn just physically and mentally burned out.

Everyones pretty much said it.... i think maybe his vast amature career kinda burnt him out.... he had a lot of solid things about him, but lacked the intangebles inside to really set him apart. Also was better against big men then he was vs guys his own size.

Thats what happens when your easily discouraged, lack that certain hunger and ferocity, and are lazy.... he fell by the wayside and is now completely irrelevant.

Do you guys remember that one of the topics back then was who was going to be better: Guinn or Mesi...

Damn, I think today's HW division might actually look a lot better than it did five years ago.

Every single word is true. Guinn recently did get a notable win against that weird looking guy who gave Valuev a close fight..... Bergeron.

At least Guinn has had some solid wins as of late, KOing Jean Francois Bergeron, he's just a couple fights from becoming a contender again if he plays his cards right. Michael Grant could be in the same boat considering how open the division is concerning contenders. There's not been many solidified contenders this decade.

I watched him fight Tony Thomson I think it was, and it was one of the most god awful fights I've ever seen.

The old cliche "the fighter that wanted it the most won on the night" could have been reversed for that night.

"The fighter that was more apathetic about winning, lost".

Neither guy looked like they wanted it at all. that's why I laugh so hard every time Thomson is brought up as doing well, and being a good win for Wlad. Thomson is a bees dick better than Guinn.
