Verdoja was looking like the next great Puerto Rican superstar, far more impressive than people like Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez when he was at the same stage they are now, then he had a motor cycle accident, and lost his next fight. I remember him not getting gold at the London 2012 olympics because he was matched with Lomachenko who went on to win gold.
The loss affected him badly, imo. Then he just lost the drive. And of course, the motorcycle accident.
