I'd never even heard of him until, purely by chance, I saw his headstone in Manchester's Southern Cemetery and the inscription 'Frank Johnson British Light Weight Champion 1952 & 1955 Light Weight Champion Of The British Empire 1953' caught my attention. It states on the other side of the headstone that he 'died accidentally' on 7th June 1970, aged 41. Does anyone know the cause of his death? I've looked online but couldn't find anything.
