I'm talking about specific punches that he had the opportunity to land but he didn't even make the effort.

Why didn't he make the effort?

    He's definitely lost some torque.

    Maybe 20 millions $$$ are a good reason ?
No compromise = no super purse vs Canelo.
It's not like it never happened before.

It makes sense until you see the effort he put in and the punches he took, just can't see it myself.

Seems somebody is in denial about the whole ageing process. BTW, old GGG hits harder than prime Canelo.

You mean a left hooker specialist breaking people's ribs will all of a sudden stopping throwing it because he hit 35 ?

And his trainer won't remind him either?

This isn't about his lack of bodywork, this is about GGG's power which is still superior to Canelo's.
Going to the body would have left GGG open for uppercuts, he never had to work the body, as his jab won the fight clearly.

Its almost as if you aren't aware that there's levels between Matthew Macklin and Canelo.

Like it did for Trout and Lara?

Canelo's famous for his head movement; even blind men will tell you that.

He's also famous for scorecards being filled in before fights, and he's famous for turning "Mexican style" into "FMJ" style after tonight as well.

Only he didn't win the fight, let alone clearly.

He won 117-113 on my card. He won in +90% of this boxing forums cards as well. You're in the minority if you had it a draw, or a Canelo win.

But none of Canelo's shots hurt GGG. He took everything that Canelo landed. Most of it smiling. I agree Canelo landed some very good eyecatching shots and counters in the fight but not consistently. Was actually back peddling mostly.

20 second bursts per round may win fights vs defensive wizards, or non-aggression fighters. GGG had Canelo on the backfoot from rd 2, and his jab clearly won the rounds. A slick combo per round dosen't win that many points I'm afraid.
