He held the unified middleweight title and lost it by split decision to Vito Antuofermo in the middle of 1979.

Then he disappeared from the ring for two years before winning a fight (against a tuneup opponent) and losing to a journeyman a few months later.

But after losing to Vito, he’s ranked right behind Marvin Hagler by The Ring and sitting in the cat-bird’s seat. Antuofermo defended successfully via draw with Hagler, then lost to Alan Minter, who then lost to Hagler. Surely Corro could have been in the mix as a mandatory for Marvin if he just fought a couple nobodies to stay busy … or maybe jumps in front of Hagler to get the shot at Minter.

    Instead, he was idle.

Does anyone know what he was doing and why he didn’t fight during this period?

Corro reportedly wanted no part of Hagler, who scored an impressive KO on the undercard of his title loss to Antuofermo, to the point that he even expressed some degree of relief in his dressing room after the loss that he wouldn't have to fight him next.
