He was supposed to fight in 2008 but he never showed for a press conference and Monte Barrett got the fight instead. Havent heard anything about him since.

I think I read somewhere that he is a published author. Smart enough to know that he was all hype, and with a brain to good to let it get scrambled.

Heard that he wanted to spend time with his family. Don't really know more than that.

I heard he sailed away to the Grey Havens to be with the Elven people, and will never return.

I know he was all hype and his chances to win a title were negligible, but it is not the point here. I just do not think it was smart to retire when his record was padded enought to think about a titleshot. After investing a lot of time and money by him and his promotor, it actually looked like very bad move, at least from financial point of view.

    Agreed.

I remember he was top 10 in a couple of rankings, that's why Haye wanted to fight him.

I wonder how? I just do not see any sense in this decision (not that my decisions always make sense ;) ).

There were some rumors of JD Chapman turning down offers from Haye (100k$) and Peter (600k$) for different, also financial, reasons. Still, whatever his real aims were, retiring at this point is at least strange.
