I read in Hayemaker issue 1 (Haye's magazine) that he was supposed to fight Haye but didn't turn up for the press conference and then bizarly announced his retirement.

Please everyone, do your home work on this Heavy-wgt! He has be trained by Michael Moore back when he was coming up the ranks. JD Chapman is very heavy handed and has good boxing skills that above average. Sometimes in our own lives life gets in the way and he followed by be honorable by making family first. He has all the goods except a good promoter that will get him on the right track to the title...He has almost a exact record with Wilder but instead of a Black Hope with JD Chapman you have the real White Hope of America. So everyone can chew on that....See you at the Top JD Chapman!!!!

I read maybe six months ago he was coming back, but that obviously never materialized. He works in the oil fields of Texas.
