Is Lacy one of the bigger disappointments of the last 10-15 years?
    Is Jermaine Taylor done?

Lacy really became shot before he could make himself a big name and for Taylor after the Hopkins fights he had self-doubt and lost his confidence and that led to his downfall.

Lacy was done before he even got started...now he'll comeback when his mortgage comes due, etc.

Yeah I always thought he was overrated but I always viewed him as a legitimate contender. Did he have a breakdown or something?

Yeah I hate to say it because he's so young but he is. When you get dismantled by a shot Jones like that .... ouch.

He probably lost some of that edge/hunger when he got the title. He was such a physical specimen and SOOO strong ...

I don't think he was ready to fight Calzaghe and as a result he got whatever prime he had beaten out of him. Similar to Vargas when he fought Trinidad. Two good fights too I might see the Calzaghe-Lacy fight again next week.

Lacy was brought along too quickly and his ability was flattered by the fact he fought in a weak division. Calzaghe was underated and was a huge step up in class. The beating he took and the shoulder injury really ended his career.

Taylor is clearly talented but doesn't fight smart and doesn't have the stamina and toughness to compete with the top guys. He was once again flattered by the wins over an old and weight drained Hopkins who at middle didn't have the workrate to overwhelm him, unlike Froch and Abraham.

Taylor may not be completely done, he looked OK against Abraham before the KO. He can still compete with the top guys but I doubt he'll pick up a title now, supermiddle is now full of talent.

many things "happened" to jeff lacy, one being that outside of his left hook he didnt have much else but there was a time where it was all he needed. i think to say he got "exposed" by calzaghe sort of trivializes just how good joe was. yeah he got his ass whipped but he got whipped by a real good fighter. also, i think a lot of people don't realize just how devastating a cuff injury can be to an athlete who uses their arms.

taylor is what he is. he's a favorite fighter of mine but he was always more of an athlete than a boxer. he carried so many bad habits throughout his career that he could compensate for with his athletic ability. so much wasted movement, left hand around his thigh, chin hanging out, stamina issues. finally caught up to him and he got iced by two guys who...well...ice people in kelly and aa. but lets not forget if he had just taken a knee or wrapped froch up he would have been smw champ.

He was strong but he only really had a good win against Reid. People went too far calling him a mini-Tyson though.

Both guys are done and what happened to them is obvious in fights. Lacy was just ruined by Calzaghe, he was indeed what he was promoted to be but not THAT high, he had his flaws which many knew about but the way he was promoted would obviously overlook that otherwise it won't be called a promotion. Calzaghe just took everything out of them that night in dominating fashion, the fight should have been stopped in the 7th but since Lacy is a champion too he was given a champion's chance to keep going.

Taylor is very confusing to me, he seemed to have lost the desire after winning everything on one night against Hopkins. He came in the rematch with far more desire and won that fight decisively in my opinion. I think his choice of getting Steward ruined him and the losses didn't do any better either, physically he's done too and I'll also say mentally as well.
