Agreed. JT has nothing to be ashamed of. He had a good run.

Lacy had a really good overhand right. But he isnt the same fighter he was before Calzaghe. He did well in the Typsko fight but it was all down hill from there. I suspect its a combination of the shoulder and something mentally... I dont know but he doesnt have any power any more and his punches are just pushed and he cant connect at all. Even against the lower caliber guys he struggles, guys he would have KOed with ease pre calzaghe.

Oh that is interesting to know. I knew his shoulder injury was bad but I didnt realize it was that bad. You are right though he has no power anymore and yeah his punches are slower and he cant connect hardly at all and when he does there is nothing on them. Before that injury he didnt have any problems connecting on B/C class guys and knocking them out but now there is not much to do. I saw him fight the guy before Roy Jones, paid like 25 bucks for a pretty good seat, I cant even remember the opponents name off the top of my head but to be honest he was lucky to get that decision. It wasnt televised so most people didnt see it and dont realize how shot he was before facing Jones, he got a hometown decision in that fight against a guy I never heard of. His hometown booed him after the decision was announced, it was sad to see.

I think the Michael Grant experience was worst. At least Lacy and Taylor were consider legit belt holder/champions.

Taylor took a ton of abuse in his career and Lacy has been in major surgery for his shoulder.

I think JT's career essentially hinged on the fateful R12 against Froch. He was 3 mins away from a points win that would have meant redemption from the Pavlik losses and he would have been the man at SMW. He made it one minute into the round and then came that right hand from Froch. Fate could have given JT the nod but it didn't. The nod went to Froch. It's really hard to come back from that type of loss, in which you almost win.

In the AA fight, unlike the Froch fight, JT was never in control.

JT's losses in the Pav 1 & Froch fights hurt the most because he had those in the bag then loses control and gets ko'd. Those type of losses are self-destructive and I hope JT avoids drugs and depression and just takes time off to be with his family.

Why would JT use drugs? Does he have a history of it or something?

Not that I know of but it hurts me when fighters I like take em esp. out of depression.

Lacy right from the start you can see he is limited. I remember watching him fighting an aging contender (this is before Calzaghe) and found myself not impressed. I think the US media was just desperate to have another boxing superstar and given his physique and fighting style, he was hyped to be the next Tyson.

Watching that particular fight and reading over-the-top predictions from various boxing websites on how he would dismantle Joe Calzaghe, it was strange. Simply put it, I was never sold on this guy.

As for Taylor, unlike Lacy, he had more talent, but had his share of limitations that prevented him from being a great champion. Lack of stamina and solid chin, these were apparent in his fights against a legit middle weight puncher in Pavlik. God knows what would have happened if he also fought Miranda during those times.

And yes, he is done. The writing was in the wall actually that he would never be a great champ after dropping that second loss against Pavlik.

Lacy was a decent figher and beat some good opponents. Then he ran into Calzaghe, who gave him a beating that ruined Lacy physically and psychologically.

Taylor, still has a lot left.
