He's fighting Sam Hill, if he beats him he's fighting Ronald Hearns, and if he beats him he's fighting Verno Phillips.

he's in training camp at the minute for his fight in november and if he wins will be fighting hearns in a title eliminator in the new year on HBO then a title fight at 154.his fight against hill in november is at a catchweight of 158 i think.
it's been very difficult for him recently,he was doing so well when he came back to ireland for a few fights that climaxed in him defeating howard eastman however since his fight with smichet his promoters are finding it hard to get him the fights he wants first the pavlik fight and now the fight with verno philips,if he beats hearns on a main event show in the garden it will bring his profile to new levels bigger than it was after the campas fight!

I wonder how this is going play out now that Phillips is going fight Williams for WBO interm title? Sence Duddy bout with Hearns was based on the winner getting a shot at Phillips IBF title:huh Which might be Vacant soon:huh and with guys most likely to fight for title being Spinks and Kirkland. But I think if Duddy beats Hearns on HBO in style it might not matter sence I think Duddy will have pick of title shots as he is a big draw and all the champs can make money fighting him be Forrest, Santos, Phillips or Dzinziruk:p or even Pavlik.

The bad cuts he got in the Smichet fight kept him out ring plus he has been working with a new trainer to get the kinks out his style. He is gonna get busy again with Hill and Hearns and then a title shot. Not sure that Hearns is a good style match up for John as Hearns is so tall and might chop Duddy up from the outside but if Duddy can get inside Hearns I see Duddy cutting Hearns down. It's too bad Duddy cuts so bad it makes for short career and they have match make him carefully if I were them I would put in with guys like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, James Kirkland and Joel Julio guys who are for most part sluggers and Duddy size and good style match ups for John not a Hearns who is 6'3 and boxing type:deal

Well said my friend, but John has suffered from poor management in recent times. They had a Belfast date planned for the end of November, a fight which could have attracted a crowd of 7000 and a big tv audience, but instead they decide to put in a small venue in the US with no tv backing. Nice move:patsch

Duddy fighting Ronald Hearns? The one thing we know for sure about young Hearns is that he DID NOT inherit the Hitman gene:bart

I dont see it being beyond Duddy getting a title at 154. I would most certainly fancy him over Phillips, but if Williams beats Phillips that would be bigger task. If Oscar wants to keep his rankings with WBC he should give John a fight!!

Hearns Jr may not have his dads monster power but he can definitely punch. Just because he doesnt have 1 punch KO power doesnt mean he is a weak puncher. He has looked pretty skilled in the fights I have seen him in. The comparisons to his dad are just unfair. When your dad is an ATG how can you possibly measure up to that?

I really don't understand the Hearns fight for Duddy:huh One of reasons for Duddy going down 154 is he would be the bigger man for most of foes at that class but with Hearns being 6'3 Duddy is one who giving away size for first fight at 154:patsch I still give the edge to Duddy in the fight with Hearns since John as been in a lot tough wars unlike Hearns who has been put in easy:cool:
