What happened to Jones? I heard two years ago that he was shot.

He fought an old version of Hopkins who is close to cashing social security checks. Even still, he only managed a split decsion and looked ragedy out there. Like I said in my other post, he has no problem fighting geriatrics.

Roy has no footspeed and massivly reduced stamina...

Lets just hope Roy can time Calzaghe and hurt him with some big right hands.

You mention the fact that B-hop fed Calzaghe right hands.

Surely, any boxing fan/follower, can see that Jones has a much better right hand, regardless of his age, than Bernard Hopkins.

If Jones gets them right hands going, he'll have a great chance against Calzaghe

Roy had no confidence a couple years ago, but he seems to gain it back slowly. He looked better in the Trinidad fight than the couple fights before, there's no question that he's faded but he made the right adjustments, like actually keeping his hands high and boxing more conventionally.
Roy was never shot, he just got caught. That and the long lay-offs changed him as a fighter, plus the age, as I said, Roy is faded but not shot. He was that good in his prime that even when he's faded now he's still a top5 LHW today who has every right to compete at the top for another couple years.

Confidence comes easy when the guy you're fighting can't hurt you, even when he lands flush

Whats crazy is that in a span of a year he tastes two (2) KO defeats ... comes back goes 12 w/ Tarver the same guy who knocked him out and then fights (3) straight 12 rounders behind the scenes. Badi Ajamu, Hanshaw (who was undefeated at the time) and the great Felix Trinidad ... thats 36 rounds against quality opposition ... usually when someone tastes defeats as Jones did they take time off and they start a comeback trail fighting in 8-10 round fights ... I think that says alot about Roy's ability as a fighter and his mindset after getting KO'd ... he didn't let it get to him. Last time I checked he only lost (3) fights throughout his career ... I don't know how thats a sign of being shot - I don't count that Griffin fight because he was beating down that man.

Out of 50 victories he only has 3 L's --

Jones Jr is done, done, done. Enough about that please. Even if he could pull a miracle out of his ass and beat JC, he would still be shot.
