I ve got a Boxing News from 1996 where he s claiming within 2 years he d be undisputed HW champ and then the first billionaire sportsman, errrrr what happened?
Epic failure of a career. Shame because he was super talented at the time. let early fame go to his head and now pays a price by getting blasted out by everyone he gets in the ring with, purely looking to pick up a pay packet. Im pretty sure he hasnt got a pot to **** in and will no doubt headline a white collar event if he hasnt done so already. atsch
Yup Loncount, that was his billing. He was never more than decent though. I don't think boxing lost a future world champ when his career hit the skids.
He looked great in flashes early on but you could see the end coming even before that first loss. He didn't seem to like it too much when the other guy took his shots and hit back.
Epic failure is a bit harsh...Still made it into the British Top 5 at one point. Nowhere near fullfilled his potential though.
Once boxed in front of him at an Amateur show at the Hilton Hotel in Blackpool (January 2004), I was on the way out after the Boxing had finished and I saw him grab hold of this women (I'm guessing she was his bird) and he said to this women something like '' you shouldn't be taking that coke. '' I swear to god that is a true story.
Im pretty sure he wasn't destroyed. Didn't he just sit down and take the count after taking a couple of half decent shots?
