I've been wondering the same, not just about him but also about another dozen heavyweights in the BoxRec top 50. His lack of activity will definitely hurt his career - he needs to fight every few months to remain sharp. The older ones may be even more adversely affected by inactivity. Why has Tua become inactive? What about Rahman, Ahunyana, Briggs, T. Ibragimov, Brewster and Toney? Have some of them retired?
Ahunanya boxed in November in New Zealand and knocked out previously unbeaten Shane Cameron to take the PABA heavyweight title , WBO Asia Pacific heavyweight title and interim NABA heavyweight titles.. He is soon due to defend at least one of those belts.. God bless..
A question I've asked myself far too often. Apparently he just got fat and decided beating bums gives him the most pleasure.
That pretty much says it all. Scott got a lot of hype earlier in the decade, but lately doesn't seem to have the dedication to get to the next level. He hasn't fought in almost a year!
I dunno if this thread has been made, but I remember a few yrs ago he made some noise beating some solid Cclass and lower Bclass fighters and was undefeated int he process. Big, solid chin, nice handpseed, but lacking that one punch power.....about the level of a Cedric Boswell, but only 30 yrs old right now. Where the hell is he? Jail? Retired? What? Anyone got the 411 on Malik Scott?
For real? If so, this is a fairly rare breed known as a "gym fighter". Gym fighters kick most everyone's ass in the gym, but come fight time, in front of a crowd, different story.
