he retired his body just would not do what he won'ted any more. He had alot of injuries, so he called it a day
Retired. Fighting at a world class level since 17 with over 50 muay thai fights and 30 pro boxing fights took its toll. Those two wars just accelerated it more then likely, he was about 31 or 32 when he hung them up. He looked pretty bad in the fight he had after Adamek II..Nearly got beaten by a middleweight, who seemed to outland him overall. He made a few comeback attempts but the trainers he had werent liking what they were seeing in the gym in terms of reflexes and fitness levels. Very good fighter..just didnt have that extra little something.
^^Didn't he used to be a HENCHMAN for the MOB before he got into Boxing?? Maybe that has something to do with his body breaking down so fast.. I really enjoyed his fights.. The man was limited but unbelievably tough... Respect...
No. I havent read his book but its pretty well known he was a standover man and used to collect drug debts for underworld figures for a short time. We dont really have the mob down here, he also was a DJ and hit the drugs pretty hard at one stage..that couldnt of helped.
I was going to add along with being involved with fighting all his life, he at one stage was heavy into the drugs which wouldnt have helped
The guy had problems with his nervous system and basically hung it up. No shame in that. Boxing top LH contender, gave Adamek 2 tough fights, world champ in Thai fights. He paid his dues. Also the brugs he took as a young man took it's tool a bit as well. Heres a topic I posted a long time ago: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49819
