    ???

Has to be one of three scenarios, given how their power seems to vary by quite a large margin:

    1. The beating Wlad handed to Peter ruined his punch tolerance, and McCline's mediocre power was then enough to put down the diminished chin of Peter.

    2. Wlad was really concerned with moving and staying mobile against Peter, and didn't really set down on his shots, and put his full force into them.

    3. Peter really did have a ruptured ear drum.

Which was it, in your opinion?

Anyway, once Vitali gets ahold of him, I think we'll learn alot about Peter's ability to take a punch, or not take a punch.

why speculate, let's go to the source:

"I fought with a broken hand and my eardrum was broken because my sparring partner had slapped me on the head and broke my eardrum."

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

acutally, i kind of think he was banged up cause he took some monster right hands from maskaev and didn't blink. that sort of redeemed his chin in my mind. Maskaev is no puncher like Wlad but his right hand is very heavy. Peter seems to handle the straight punches better and may have some issues with hooks and uppercuts. Probably that tree trunk he calls a neck has something to do with it.

But we will find out for sure against Vitali who will land his counter-uppercuts.

Yeah it isn't like a boxer to exaggurate or make excuses for shortcomings, unheard of.

I'd say its a combination of all three of the reasons the OP mentioned.

Peter can't take hooks. Wlad wobbled him with one and McCline knocked him around like a ragdoll with them. Vitali is going to exploit this also just like he did against Danny Williams.

I second that,, I really do belive that his eardrum was ruptured. That shot Peter took from Maskaev at the end of the 5th was full force dead on the side of Peter's chin and Peter did not blink,, I mean come on really that first shot from McCline that put Peter down was a VERY VERY weak shot

it was a joke dude. slapping usually doesn't cause busted eardrums. Peter has some of the best quotes around :yep :yep

your right about the straight punches....its the uppercuts and hooks (like Wlad threw) that seem to cause Peter problems.

For whatever reason a hook hurts him. I agree he took some MONSTER straight rights from Wlad that had little effect. He seems to be able to take straight punches fine but hooks really bother him. We will find out in the Vitali fight as Vitali has a hard slapping type left hook he throws that is a dangerous punch.

yep. this is the punch Peter and his fans should really worry about.

Peter like Williams, leaves lots of openings for counters. Wlad is not a counter-puncher, but Vitali was a vicious counter-puncher. It remains to be seen if Vitali can regain his timing. I'm say yes which will have notorious Peter nuthuggers 40oz and The Punisher sporting avatars with the Klitschkos posing in compromising positions :yep :yep :yep

That is EXACTLY the punch I am talking about. He knocked Williams down with it in the 1st round. :good

I think someone mentioned his neck. Its like a tree trunk. I think punches, straight on that make his head goes back, his massive neck absorbs the punch...BUT the hooks whip his face sideways and the neck doesn't help as much
