Problem I have is the inactive nature of all these guys, could be in a showcase fight in the meantime and stay relevant for us watching,so hard to get behind those who only fight once a year.
You have to understand that some fights do not get made as a fault of neither boxer, no matter how much they might want it. It sounds like you'll jump off and on the support bandwagons on a whim. However, this is a great way to always ONLY cheer for and be fans of champions I suppose.
To be fair to porter he tries to get out often even having an exhibition fight when he was to inactive one time. Danny to me is not interested in fighting often, he wants his 1-2 mil a year and he is satisfied.
I know they don’t I’m not silly. When Crawford calls out Spence it’s not like I expect the fight to happen in a weeks time, but I like the intention. At least he is making it clear that he wants to fight him and even though it might take a years time to make I will still have the optimism that they will both fight if they keep winning. When someone is not saying the right things I’m more likely to think they don’t want the fight, of course if the fight does get made i will say fair enough they got it done so it ended well. If porter fights Spence I will be happy, I don’t hate porter just look at my responses to some of the people on this thread, just I don’t like how he has been conducting himself lately in regards to fighting Spence. Danny at least has said he is willing to fight Spence next if he beats Porter.
Except boxing say things that contradict what they may have said before ALL the time. Which is the #1 reason posters shouldn't put so much faith in to what a promoter/manager/boxer said. I mean, you have to realize that calling out, or 'call outs', don't actually mean much really. they look cool, sound cool, and make a few fans warm between the legs. Actions speak louder than words (Or the lack of). Some fighters are better speakers than others. More comfortable. Porter isn't a big talker. He just fights.
I know this, however if they say something at least they become more accountable. Porter ain’t a big talker but he is when it comes to Thurman and Garcia, he was chasing these guys for a long time. He made completely clear that he wanted those fights, which I liked and when Danny wasn’t keen I was criticising Danny for it.
Lol Thurman is irrelevant at the moment he is gunna want to have two tune ups before he has a serious fight.
I understand why you might see it that way. At the same time, I have a hard time remembering Porter ever landing effective punches on a quality opponent. Although he beat Alexander and Pauline convincingly, I think they lacked the guts to hang with his rough and tumble, mauling style. Unfortunately for Porter, I think this will be his undoing against Danny Garcia. Herrera has already proven that Swift can be outboxed. Meanwhile, Peterson proved Danny’s easy to hit. However, Peterson stayed defensively responsible while landing his shots. I just don’t think Porter has the skills or discipline to do the same. I see Porter suffering a knockdown in the early to mid rounds. From there he responds one of two ways. 1. Fight tentatively, like Matthysse did, and lose a clear decision. 2. Up the aggression and lose by spectacular T/KO. Styles make fights and I think Shawn Porter is tailor made for Garcia. Either way, I look forward to the fight and I am really looking forward to the post-fight interviews. I always like to see how fighters react to a serving of humble pie.
see i agree with you with the countering and I could imagine porter getting knocked down but Garcia hasn't showed any real power at 147, you saw what Spence did to Peterson . Porter is gonna rough Danny up and box him in spots it will be a 7-5 fight for porter.
What's irrelevant about a Thurman fight? If he manages to get by danny which I highly doubt, then a Thurman fight would become a unification. Many people felt porter should have been given the nod, (I had it 7-5 Thurman) but it was a close fight and I don't think anyone will have any issues if they were to fight again.
