A few years back, I thought Rico Hoye had a legit shot to do some big time things at Light Heavyweight. His in ring performance has fallen way off. He basically got destroyed in his last fight and didn't really look like he even wanted to be in the ring. Is he having managerial / promotional issues?
Hoye was a good prospect and blamed his trainer and inexperience for his first loss to Woods. Considering he had only 18 fights, I believed him on that one. Against Diaconu he faced a fellow prospect turned contender with similar experience, and was simply outclassed.
I saw the fights againts woods and Diaconu. Looks like he lost his motivation after his first lost in world title.
before the diaconu fight, Hoye was saying he is in the best shape of his life nad he wants anothe title shot but it looked like as soon as he felt how hard Diaconu hits he gave up.
Hoye was never that good, he was just big and could seriously punch. I was suprised he made it as far as a title shot, good on him.
Almost from the opening bell against Dicanau he looked like a fighter who has lost the passion and will to fight. Sad, he had some skills, but he's another B level fighter who has no desire to goto war and put in what it takes to make the leap to the next level. They talk about how most of this sport is mental, and mentally I think Hoye has lost it.
Poor ol Montell got jobbed in that fight. Hoye did have some good wins though, he knocked the **** out of Richard Hall which aint an easy thing to do.
Some guys come back stronger from a defeat, most just don't. I guess that's just the case for Hoye. Not that his career is totally done & dusted though. But he needs to ask himself some hard questions about whether this is what he wants to do.
I dont even remember that much of griffin hoye i think it was boring but i remember that griffin seemed like a guy who knew exactly what he was doing and did what he wanted to do in that fight...not too much action i dont think...
