Was a fairly bad look on Rigondeaux's part, how it all played out. Arse whooping though? I saw maybe two hard looking shots land. More embarassing than anything, after his handlers talked all that ****, and he talked all that ****. That being said he probably has too much pride to end his career like that. He has a couple live opponents now at 122, that he would probably be favored over, and would be quality wins to end his career on, and solidify his resume.
Can't make the weight. What's ironic is that if he never put on muscle to move up to 130 to take that lesson from Loma, then he would have been able to cut to 118 easier. Be sad to see some bantamweight make a name off of beating a drained 48 year old.
He quit unlike Toney and Hamed. He quit in the 7th round I believe. Loma was actually just gearing up for a major ass kicking. And then Rigo quit. Or perhaps even worse Rigo was about to get disqualified from excessive clinching. Loma embarrassed him for 7 rounds. The last 5 Rigo quit to avoid the incoming pain.
networks weren't clamoring for him to begin with. He's had stinker after stinker. he talked his way into the Loma fight and was embarrassed. He can try to rebuild some semblance of a career, but it won't be on premium networks.
Yes they are good people. I have an Iranian friend who used to box when he was a child/teen. He was the champion of his city or perhaps it was the district of his city (can't remember now). We watched a lot of the 2008 Olympic boxing together on TV. Those Olympics are when I first saw the great man in my avatar box. My Iranian friend was very impressed by him too
