What happened to Roy Jones, is the same thing that will happen to Shane Mosley!!

Possibly, everyone has their downfall at some point if they box for too long. RJJ was already broken, just trying to recapture glory. Not so sure Mosley is broken down yet, think he has much more left vs top level competition then RJJ did/does.

You maybe right...The thing about an old fighter is that sometimes they really do have one last big performance in them. Probablem being that they have about 6 or seven awhful ones in them too so you nevevr know which guy is going to show-up. Mosely had a fire under his ass for the last one.

I agree if there ever was a time for a guy like berto fight Mosely it would be now. At least if Shane goes down though he won't get blown away on a pathetic one punch knockout. (no offence to Jones, he's my boy and all but if he's getting knocked out on that type of **** then he better retire).

Darryl... your "poet, scholar & fightfan" tag always amuses me when I see how poor your grammar and punctuation is. I know it's "just a forum", but you bring it on yourself. You're a journalist, right? I hope your editor is well compensated.

Your argument is pointless. You accuse others of selective amnesia and as posters above point out, you selectively omit Berto's questionable performances (especially against a fighter Shane dominated) and that Shane's poor showings are all at 154. Not to mention that drawing an analogy between Jones' win over Lacy and Shane's over Margo is just laughable.

Mosely is currently given more credit than he deserves based on a single fight but you are WAY over-compensating. I think he'd have a very tough time with Mayweather (probably lose), but a beatdown vs Berto? If you're not just screwing around, you're in a dreamworld.

[Oh, and Mosley isn't the 2nd biggest threat to Floyd; so long as he can make the weight comfortably, Williams is.]

Your'e kind of stupid. Vargas wasn't shot in their first fight and he wasn't leading on the score-cards. Mayorga didn't look shot in his fight with Mosley either, and we wasn't leading on the score-cards when he was stopped. Vargas was shot for their second fight, and Mosley beat him up. These were also fights at 154, not Mosley's best weight, against guys that had quite a few pounds on Mosley who were able to out-muscle Shane.

I'm not counting Berto out, and if Mosley has lost a step at all, I think he'll win. The key I think is Berto's physical strength, if he is strong enough to neutralize Mosley in close like Mayorga was, then he will win. I doubt he is, though.

Wow...An all out attack on my grammar, punctuation and profession.

Well, you know what they say:

"Large minds use Ideas, Medium minds use logic and SMALL MINDS USE INSULTS!!!"

I do not see it like that. Mosley is more of a warrior than Jones. Not saying he is greater, but he is more used to getting hurt and fighting back. Jones and Mayweather are not those type of fighters. If Jones would have been beaten up like Vernon was beating up Mosley, I doubt it would have gone long at all. Jones was not a guy who took too much punishement without being stopped. His skills were in boxing.

By the way, I do think Berto gives Mosley a tougher fight than Margarito did.

If Mosley does turn 'old' overnight it would be a sad sight to see.

inactivity is his worst enemy at this point in his career.... making 147 will be harder even though he has made it with ease in the past.....Mosley also has trainer of the year in my book - Brother Nazim

Mosley has rejuvinated his career....hes stated hes looking to destroy his opponents for now on and hes got the hunger back and I believe him!! he proved it when he destroyed the iron-chinned Margarito

And if he serious about fighting that way for now on,Berto is in HUGE trouble..I honestly dont see nothing impressive at all about berto,he always fails to impress me when he fights and his last fight was his worst performance ever

We all know Mosley is gonna be looking to land bombs....and One thing that got me worried for Andre is his questionable chin..because in his last fight,in the 1st rnd..he was stunned by Collazo...COLLAZO!! ...........enough said
