What happened to Schmeling against Louis in the 2nd fight ?

    He was past his prime for both fights - hence the reason the first one was such a big upset.

    At that stage of his career, Schmeling really didn't have much left outside of his right hand. However, Louis entered the first fight without any strategy for stopping the right hand, and Schmeling was able to capitalize.

    In the rematch, Louis picked off and smothered the right hand, and once he'd done that it was an easy victory.

    @My2Sense: he was seen as past his prime but I think he wasn´t quite. Debatable. How much did the pressure play a role in ´38 you reckon? IMO it´s a big deal there.
