He's got absolutely ZERO confidence in his punch resistance. Deer in the headlights doesnt even hold up vs the likes of the Malik's Scotts and Jonathan Banks of the division. He KO Chazz Witherspoon in a great fight, and stopped Timur Ibragimov in a huge step up. But once Chazz rocked him, he turned into a kill or be killed fighter. Not a good combination for someone with no faith in their ability to defend. He's a small American version of David Price, without the amatuer pedigree and faithful following.
Hope he's happily retired, whilst I wasn't a "fan" of Mitchell he seemed like a good guy and I always wanted him to do good but evidently boxing isn't for him.
He's GENUINELY a NICE GUY, and even with his chin/defensive liabilities, he had the power and speed to compete in the top 20 for a decent career. However, once GBP dropped him, he was promptly fed to Arreola and is likely having nightmare's ever time he hears a bell ring.
I almost agree with you! It looks very likely that Wlad wanted the payday to come to New York and shatter Mitchells jaw......but in hindsight, the winner of Banks v Mitchell 1 was supposed to fight Wlad, and Banks had no idea that Mitchell was so fragile. When Mitchell Banks 2 was made, it was K2s hope, and the WBOs as well, that the first fight was a fluke, and that Mitchells supreme punching power and speed would return, and he'd bomb Banks out in a couple of rds. In rds 5/6/7, it appears that Banks intentionally throws the fight soas to forgo his EARNED title fight vs his boss. In such a fight, Banks would have likely earned in the neighborhood of 700K, but opted to give Seth the W, then returning as Wlads trainer earning himself nearly 1 million as Wlads trainer for the Pulev fight. Since then, Banks has gone on to lose badly to a roided to the gills Tarver, but has earned in the neighborhood of 5 mil coaching the top 5 ATG Wladimir Klitschko.
I believe Golden Boy were in on the fix too. Its why i believe Lara was paid to throw the fight against Canelo. They had already tried to stitch him up by making him fight a Light Heavy version of Gulo.. I watched Lara vs Canela closely and it looked like he was missing punches purposely . Lara is very accurate. He don't miss.
Lara was taking a dozen shots a rd to his nuts and his hips for the first 8 rds. Sure, he was sweeping the fight in the objective scorers and fans eyes, but the judges have high insirance premiums to pay on their Aston Martins and their Jags, and Lara's lowly promoters werent going to be throwing no extra work their way...wink wink winnk
I heard he is making a rap cd with Martin....mc Mitchell is in da house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This content is protected
He got glassed by Arreola. Once you get knocked out by Chris you pretty much can retire. You hit a low point.
I remember quite a few American boxing fans really hyping old Seth, quite a few really bought in to him. Don't get me wrong us British fans have had more than our fair share of being duped by hype but I found it very funny at the time when Seth was wiped out and the complete silence from the same people who were hyping him before.
