Nothing wrong with earning a living in the ring..... But Im afraid for Seth, this would be earning a dying in the ring.
Price KO1. Price actually knows how to fight. Is STILL potentially the hardest puncher in all of boxing. And unlike Mitchell, has PROVEN the ability to take a big shot, recover and win. Yeah, Banks hurt him and Seth didnt lose. But he didnt win either. Thompson broke his eardrum, and won via a gassed Price, not a hurt Price. Pala hit him right on the button, and Price came back to use his tools to regain his ranking. Teper was all wrong for Price even without being roided worse than Marquez was vs Pac.
Excellent observation. It was like crickets on the ESB forum for a few days after Seth got wiped out the first time. "A fluke". And then it was pretty much radio silence once his glass jaw was shattered for the second time.
Never understood why everyone was rooting for him to fail so badly. His flaws were always so obvious but I'm not sure it's all that fun to immediately HATE all those countless fighters out there who fit that bill. I think it was people just hating that he was getting televised fights at all and viewed him as "an American getting undue opportunity." They were right. But not sure it's all that fun to immediately HATE all those countless fighters out there who fit that bill, either.
They werent ALWAYS obvious, not even to the harcorde fans who watched his earlier prospect fights a couple times before considering him legit. He showed great offensive prowess and even took a couple punches vs the game former contedner, They werent always OBVIOUS, his flaws that is.... Vs the capable Sykes and serviceable Herreryo, he showed good offensive fundamentals, and even took a few from the larger Sykes. Vs Tiggy and Chazz, he wnet out with ill intent, looking to put a mark on his career with the steps up. Both of which he did in spite of Chazz hanging and banging with him in the first rd. Not saying he didnt have flaws we could see, but the degree of fragility of his chin was a huge question mark. It literally took a half missed counter R from a featherfist like Banks to give us our answers.
This, he had a few goofball supporters but really no one expected him to be a world champion or even contender. Hilarious how HBO tried to parade him around and then the subsequent outcome of his career though.
He had plenty of fans, nothing wrong with that or the man trying to earn a living in such a demanding sport but so many used him as a propaganda tool. Seth became the poster boy for the American football narrative that our best HW boxers were all playing football. They claimed that if someone like Mitchell who could not play in the NFL due to injury yet had so much success boxing that it was proof the U.S. would dominate HW boxing if only some of our football and basketball players turned to boxing. Even after it did not wok out for him they still claimed it was only because he got too late of a start.
I remember Monk Foreman being hyped around the same time if my memory serves. What ever happen to Monk?
Was just wondering what Seth was up to these days but can’t find anything on him. Anybody know what he’s doing these days? Crazy that he is only 42 years old, seems like he should be in his 50s by now.
